Gez Posted June 20, 2021 (edited) 1 hour ago, NeilJohnRips said: On a random side note looking at the original Ultimate Doom iwad it looks like it duplicates all the EP1 music. Unless I'm mistaken in the way wad files work it seems a bit of a waste of space especially for back then. :D It's a bug/oversight in id's toolchain. There's a list of sound and music lumps used in the shareware version, and a list of sound and music lumps used in the full version. The second list includes the first list as a subset, but the iwad builder assumed it didn't, like for the patches and flats and TEXTUREx lumps. So when building the registered IWAD, it adds the shareware flats, the full game flats; the shareware patches, the full game flats; the shareware TEXTURE1, the full game TEXTURE2; the shareware audio, the full game audio... and as a result the shareware audio lumps are duplicated. Though there's funnier, if you look at the Strife IWAD. You'll see that whenever a music lump is used by several map, it is included in as many copies as there are maps using them. And no, it's not like Doom II with its D_RUNNIN and D_RUNNI2; they all have strictly the same name. 5 minutes ago, northivanastan said: Thought it might've been the name (with the colon) Pretty sure that's that. The colon is a reserved character in Windows. Other troublesome characters are ?, *, \, and /. Edited June 20, 2021 by Gez 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

This will be included in the next RC. just letting you know, DMAPINFO uses "endsequence" to provide lots of text during the text screen, and because the DMAPINFO.rar I have still uses endsequence = "altend4", straight from Gokuma's extracted DMAPINFO, the current version of Unity DMAPINFO for endsequence may different, so be sure to check it out first before including it. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Unfortunately I have no way of doing that :( Anyone have the Unity port to test with? I can DM over a version of the WAD that has DMAPINFO. 9 minutes ago, Gez said: Pretty sure that's that. Ouch, thanks for reminding me of my Linux bubble. @forgettablepyromaniac you can just rename it, and the filename will be changed in RC2. You can also probably just skip the one file, and the rest will extract fine. Given that two serious-ish issues have already been identified (that and a crash on dsda-doom) RC2 might have to be released later today. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
NeilForshaw Posted June 20, 2021 For the time being double click the zip to open it like a folder. Inside there you should be able to rename it in the zip before extracting it. I suppose it'll have to be changed for the next RC 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

continuum.mid Posted June 21, 2021 (edited) Here's a second release candidate to address the issues that were reported today: https://archive.org/download/ultimidi-rc2/ultimidi-rc2.zip Changelog: Added DMAPINFO, thanks to @lokbustam257. I encourage any Unity port owners to test E4 with this; at the very least, play through E4M8 to see if the intermission text displays properly. I'm not able to test it myself yet. Removed special characters from the "levelbackdrop" line in E4M8's UMAPINFO that caused crashes in dsda-doom. Everything should work there now. Thanks @NeilJohnRips for the report. Renamed "Ammo Count: 00" in the midis/ folder to exclude the colon, for compatibility with Windows systems. Thanks @forgettablepyromaniac for the report. Devalaous Posted June 21, 2021 32 minutes ago, Rudolph said: Another Ultimate Doom full replacement megawad? Now, why did I never hear of this one before? :o Its a full 36 map megawad that simply remixes the entirety of the game; every level is different yet feels the same, its like putting the original maps into a blender then recombining them into a different shape with all the same parts. The only real difference is Warrens, which takes you to a E1M1 devaju instead of E3M1. Thus, this soundtrack is perfect for it 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Rudolph Posted June 21, 2021 (edited) I will have to check it out, then! I enjoyed D1TWID, Lunar Catastrophe and Deathless, so this looks like it is right up my alley. Thanks for bringing it up to my attention! :) Edited April 2, 2022 by Rudolph 2 Quote Share this post Link to post

Let me know if the intermission is messed up too. (this one is for the whole game) DMAPINFO_updated.zip 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
