Kappes Buur Posted March 28, 2021 (edited) I make this post only to let the developers of Eternity sleep peacefully at night. I found the solution to my problem with Eternity Engine. For some time I had a similar issue with Slade3, which took longer and longer to open a pwad. At first a hard reboot would solve the problem but it did not last long, My first thought was that the latest Slade3 would not release memory after use. However, since nobody complained with a similar problem I just let the issue sit for a while. Then I thought of maybe a corrupted registry. I regularly use CCleaner to clean the registry, but the free version only does so much. Then I used Wise Registry Cleaner. Again it seems that it finds and reports some many problems but does not actually fix the problems. Instead it refers to the Pro version. Does somebody know of a free registry cleaner which does fix the registry reliably? My next option was to use RegEdit to see what I can do with that. Entering Slade3 in Find, it searched through the registry and came up with numerous keys to old versions of Slade3, which I deleted. Lo and behold after a hard reboot not only was my problem with Slade3 gone but also with Eternity, which now loads in milleseconds, well seconds since the launcher appears first. Is there some programmatic connection between Slade3 and Eternity? So, developers, sorry for causing a rise in blood pressure. All is good now. P41R47 Posted March 28, 2021 Good to know you can now properly use it, pal! For certain, i found what happened to you as really strange as it was not mentioned at all on the different threads. But now that you mention how you solved the problem, i feel that sometime ago, something like this happened to me with another game. And that why i started to not update my games/programs if they work fine by my end. I only update when some interesting new feature is added or something that i found annoying is fixed, or a final version is released. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
printz Posted March 29, 2021 Do you open wads in SLADE and in source ports by using Explorer? Could it be due to file extension association? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
