Pixel Fiend Posted April 3, 2021 One of the reasons I play this game so rarely is that the menu sounds painfully pierce into my skull, making me not want to play. I am seeking a way to eliminate those jarring clicks. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Martin-CAI Posted April 3, 2021 In short: you can't. You'll have to turn the volume down whenever you click things in the menu. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Gez Posted April 3, 2021 I'm sure it's possible. I don't have the game (I don't have the money to buy a machine that'd run it), but if it's on the PC you can access its data, and find where the sound data is hidden, and then find out how to replace the menu sound files with something else -- including silence if so you choose. Of course if they use some sort of encrypted archive format or do integrity checks or some other nonsense like that, it can be very complicated. You could also contact id Software's customer support, file it as an accessibility issue. No guarantee it'd give you a positive result, but the likelihood of success is much higher than if you don't try. 3 Quote Share this post Link to post

Rytrik Posted April 8, 2021 I can understand @<<Rewind's perspective on the matter. For some people, the high pitched frequency (tapping, clicks, things dropping on hardwood floors, etc) is extremely annoying. The menu clicks do border on that "I want to throttle someone" frequency, and there should be some way to disable them. Many games do allow a person to disable menu sounds, and disabling menu sounds is something all games should have OR there should be better QA testing about those types of sounds to make them more pleasant to the ear. I actually wonder if this is an aspect which game designers consider. Hmm... 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
