Man, those streams have just been *loads* of fun. It's funny to watch Hugo get his ass kicked, but it also becomes an experience where you're genuinely cheering for him as he overcomes impossible situations with his inverted X-Box controller. 

 

I think one of the best parts was him doing the Arch-Vile arena in 'Final Sin', and insisting on not using the BFG, and then saying 'yeah, I'm starting to remember now that we designed this arena in such a way that people would have to be crazy not to use the BFG.' And then he eventually beat the arena without the BFG, which was super exhilarating.

 

Those streams have been so enjoyable in so many different ways.

The streams (or at least the recordings of them on YouTube) have been an excellent mood lifter while I'm working on Friday mornings. I'll miss them when they run out of Doom to play.

That last one was an endurance test of a stream. What was odd was that after Hugo spent 3+ agonizing hours getting up to the point where he beat the Slayer Gate, he just sort of... walked through the rest of the level, up to the Samur fight. The bridge fight, he died maybe once on. The really big arena fight below that, he literally did on the first try---even I usually die on that a bunch of times. The electrified wall fight, I think he did after maybe...one death? It was kind of weird to see him suddenly step up his game that drastically. 

 

I also loved how unhelpful and trolly the chat was when offering advice ('try aiming', 'try not to die') after he had spent over an hour in the Slayer Gate.

I'm in Ireland, and since I'm off work with a broken leg tonight is the first time I'll be able to catch the stream live. Hopefully the Samur fight doesn't take too long and Hugo can jump straight into TAG2.

 

Also, for the record, my gaming rig is hooked up to my living room TV, so I too am rocking the GenX inverted controller, albeit a DS4. R2 doesn't work in the Weapon Mod menu for some reason...
