Recommended Posts

Oh, that Redemption Stronghold starting room homage...

Looks neat, did this wad includes the 1st episode as well?

Ooh, yes, I'm definitely going to play this! I really enjoyed the first episode, so its nice to see that you are still plugging away at TNT Goes Boom.

Yes and I still accept feedback from it. :)

Cool! I started playing the first map, although I did not get very far into MAP01 - mostly due to being very tired from work - and I never was much of a TNT fan, but I already like it better than MAP01: System Control.

Can we expect a full 32-map replacement megawad in the future? Also, you talk about "episodes", yet I do not get any episode selection screen. Did you mean "episode" in the sense of map clusters, with an intermission text screen between each?

Yes, I meant maps between intermission screens. :)

As for full replacement, as I've said, no promises but I'll do my best.

Played thru first three maps of Ep1, and it's incredibly good!  The level designs are unique - from map01 onward!, work well, and the trickiness combined with the challenge of combat (on HMP) for really great gameplay!  Sometimes it feels like the intensity of combat is just slightly above what i'm usually comfortable with, but in these maps the added challenge doesn't frustrate me at all - in fact for once it makes me blame myself (but, i've only died three times, once in map02 and twice in map03 - all my own faults).  i like the original TNT levels (unlike Plutonia), but these have so far been more engaging and interesting!

Have some prboom+ fdas for the wad: tntgb_gaspe_fdas.zip , the first 2 maps were recorded with complevel 2 instead of 4, leftover from my previous play.

It looked promising at the start but I must say that I got disappointed in the last maps. I liked more the first levels because they are very good revisitations of the originals as they are still recognizable but there's also a lot more of the author personal touch to make the levels feel more fresh. Human BBQ and Power Control are my favourites and I liked Open Season starting area with a rather hot fight and how Prison is subverted. The maps later on become more simple redesigns of the originals without much unique touches, ironically Metal was the worst offender to me. Other levels were even less interesting than the original like Stronghold that was turned into something more simplified and lacking the layout plenty of interconnected parts that made it fun to explore the place. Or Storage Facility where the outdoor part is longer and it's a basic flat area without an interesting gameplay, then the storage area is another flat part without the 3D spaces that the original made with the crates. I liked the secrets and the progression that is playful with lots of switches or other tricks which is very fitting for TNT.

  • 2 weeks later...

I just noticed a small bug, though not in the wad itself. Rather, the zipped wad file is lacking an extension, meaning that DoomLauncher can't run it. I was trivial to fix the issue on my end, but it is still something to take note of.

I have never used DoomLauncher before. What was the issue exactly? The extension, I mean.

Good to know for the future.

paint me surprised as i didn't notice this haha :P

This renditions are awesome, and as a TNT lover, i approve it. ;)
The first episode is kinda cramped, but offers a great fun, and the second one is just amazing as no other.

TNT: Evilution needed something like this, and i really hope i can help @The_SloVinator to deliver this magnificent set of maps. :)
There are plenty of new graphics coming for it, too ;)

hi. i may found a bug in map03. if you click multiple times at the metal wall with revets as per screenshot, the level ends early with just obtaining the yellow key. currently using gzdoom 4.5.0. tq.Gffa655.png
