Which game configuration should I use (Ultimate Doom Builder)

Oldschoolgeek32

Question

Hi there! Normally back when I used DB2 as my main builder, I'd set Zdoom (Doom Format) or GZDoom (Doom Format) for my wads, but then I switched to using the much more recent Ultimate Doom Builder, there isn't a Zdoom (Doom format or even GZDoom (Doom Format) option anymore

This are the only options available, I am unsure which one I should use? if anyone could give me any advice on this, I would gladly appreciate it!

GZDoom, as it is now, is the combination of ZDoom and GZDoom when both were still separate sourceports, and a bit of QDoom. Therefore the latest GZDoom contains all the features of ZDoom and more. And everything at the latest state.

A good reason to use GZDoom is the fact that textures no longer need the TEXTURE1/PNAMES lumps. There is no longer a distinction between sidedef textures and sector textures, they can be used on either. Just stick them between TX_START and TX_END markers.

I always suggest to use UDMF right away, because sooner or later one wants to add something in a map which is not available with the old DOOM/BOOM format maps. Another reason to use UDMF, rather than DiHF is, that UDMF facilitates some functions, for linedefs or sectors, to single keystrokes where DiHF may have to use scripts. Plus some functions are only available for UDMF.
