3/10. I love video games, especially of the old arcade era. I was addicted to the old coin-op video games back in the late 70s/early 80s. Held the Austin city record on Bosconian. Then consoles came along, and then PCs, and I found I had no hand-eye coordination. I can't make it through a modern FPS without God Mode.

Now, given that, I can surely read the dynamics of a modern level enough to write music for it. ;)  Hence the 3 out of 10 - I've got to give myself some credit.

TBQH most modern games put me off simply for the fact that you cannot just pick them up and play -in the time it takes just to load the game, go online, set up an account or whatever, go through intros, tutorials etc. or deal with the complex dynamics/politics of multiplayer, I can have a good session of Golden Axe and get my video gaming fix for the day, or I can just switch between a dozen of the 400+ classic games on my Famiclone.

In my younger days I used to be a pure 10/10 -back then this meant spending even an entire day in the arcades until your pocket money ran out. Today, meh. Maybe a 2/10 or 3/10, and even then I can only stand classic game genres. Anything from the Playstation era and onwards simply overloads me with complexity, and completely kills the mood.

There aren't enough modern games that are brave enough to throw you right into the action. There's so much hand holding and forced tutorials now that it is an investment just to start playing them.

I don't really spend a whole lot of time playing games, the one i have most hours on is Monster Hunter World with 1.4k and around 400 hours on Dark souls 1 and 3. I have a lot of games i've spent around 50 hours on like metroidvanias, the wolfenstein games, street fighter.

There's quite a few games i've played for a long time that i owned before steam, so i can't be sure exactly how much i played them, but things like the Medal Of Honor pc games, IL-2 Sturmovik 1946, the Doom games (except DOOM 64 which i just started recently and haven't finished yet). During my highschool years i might have hit over a thousand hours of League of legends too i guess.

So i'd say i play a lot of games but can't really go on for countless hours grinding stuff, not much of a completionist either and i don't think i've platinum any games lol

I guess 9/10. Because I've been playing different games since the age of 11. When my dad bought the first computer with windows XP I've started playing games on it. I remember the first game I've tried - Alien Shooter. Now I prefer shooters as well and I also have a twitch account where I stream.

I was just thinking, how does one rate themselves? Speed, wits and reflex? Or just how often you play games and how many?

I guess I'm not too bad. Started playing games as soon as I could comprehend what was going on in them. The first computers I remember were stuff like the Sinclair ZX Spectrum, Amstrad and Commodore 64.

Arcades too, a LOT of arcade machines with everything from Pong, Pacman, Space Invaders all the way up to later stuff like Double Dragon, Golden Axe, Final Fight and Street Fighter.

I didn't get my own computer until the Commodore 64. I got it for Christmas but I was meant to get a Nintendo as that is what I had been bugging my parents for. The retail man managed to persuade my mother into coughing up more money for a C64 instead. The first game I owned on it? Impossible Mission and it was really hard for a 4-5 year old. I think there was 99 levels in it and I got to level...60 something. Not bad for a kid who was barely old enough to ride a bike without training wheels.

My tastes in games changed as I got older so things like multiplayer/PvP went out the window. But other than changing tastes I stayed that way until recently when I lost my left eye. I can't play anything at the moment because I'm on post-surgery meds (1 week left) for that, so I'll have to wait and see how much it has effected me.

Luckily games don't rely on pesky things like depth perception, so I might be okay.

Anyway, I'm probably a 6/10 now? But I'm not really sure yet. I had stopped caring about that stuff a long time ago anyway. So long as I can still play games I'm happy.
