No, I mean it sucks when you, for example, have to shoot a shotgunner with the pistol for his weapon at the beginning of a level, and the shots go straight through him so he doesn't die. Very annoying

the reason this happens is because in the doom engine any map08 would have all sound at the highest volume no matter what since in the original doom map08/e#m8 would be the boss levels. the loud sound was so you could hear the bosses in the game. when they were making doom 2 they forgot to erase this from the games source code. so because of that map08 will forever be max volume. this goes for the map 08's for any custom wad for doom 1 or 2

i play a lot on servers with in turn means i play a lot of slaughter maps since people usually like them more for mp (they are bigger with more monsters so they fit really well when theres more then on guy) and the archvile fames spawning in the wrong place can be the difference from you killing a room full of demons or that single archvile in the end of the room using the other monsters as a meat shield killing you instantely without you ever seeing him
