I don't think anyone would argue against stuff that needs drawing IN ADDITION to a black background (i.e., the missing sprite part), it's just the ones where it took 5 seconds with MSPaint and the bucket tool or just slapping some text over the existing widescreen titles that seem less necessary

Oh I know, I'm just saying that effort would be better used on things like that

You can see the small sprite cutoff here, would be a quick edit and also widescreens a community legend.

There's also a slight bit cutoff on the right demon

 

Probably not enough for any reasonable person to care, but I fixed it anyways

idk how anyone could possibly make CC2 look good without that 3d model of a monopoly board in the titlepic (which might be lost to time by now, who knows)

 

But we still could probably source the rock and ground assets from CC4, and a good artist could come up with nice looking rolled-up paper borders for CC3 ala cartoon treasure maps:

Some megawads that could be widescreened fully or partially with the 'lazy floodfill': Khorus' Speedy Shit (just has a titlepic with plain yellow background), Dimensions of Time (Largely or entirely done in MS paint, would be an easy one), H2H Xmas (The TITLEPIC is another 'single colour background' one), Pulse (its TITLEPIC lump is another one colour thing; its CREDIT lump is more work). On the smaller side: Doom 2 Hellscape by Lutz and Sky May Be for the memes

I doubt I'm the first to do this, but as I'm generally behind the times, I didn't really look into all these assets until today.  when I was looking at Scuba Steve's assets, I naturally liked the ones with additional details more than the plain one from the unity port, but I figured "why should I have to choose between one with the UAC logo and one with the blood splatter?" so I mashed them together.

A blood splatter was originally included in the corner of the official widescreen statusbar, but it was overruled by id Software themselves because they wanted the statusbar to stay nondescript as to not draw the players eye away from the red numbers.

The old widescreen wads I posted here shouldn't be used any further, several of them had bugs that never got fixed, and ive since fixed many of them and rehosted via different links in my patch thread, or are going to be reposted there.

Admittedly, many of the bug reports happened while I was away from the game and community for an extended period, sorry about that. Since then ive gotten much better at supporting a wider variety of ports.

Since I am responsible for the original 1k Line 3 STBAR, it feels fitting I provide example using that one. Hopefully this helps provide insight so your next attempt(s) at these can benefit from them. :)

First, I'd start by trying to relocate the original assets which were used to create the STBAR - Many STBARs out there are built using textures featured in the WAD.

 

In this case, the original assets used to make the STBAR are OTEX textures (OVINEC02 and OMRBLA01 respectively, pictured below) which you can get from within the 1k3 WAD itself. I then replicated the same work that was originally done to the best of my ability for the expanded sides.

In this case, it's as simple as overlaying the vines onto the marble texture, lining them up appropriately, and then adding a small amount of drop-shadow to the vines to help separate them from the greens of the marble underneath.

 

Lastly to ensure consistency I replicated the shadows underneath which expand across the bar, and then did the same for the upper highlights despite the vines covering most of them.

Thanks for the tips Mr. Dragonfly. I did a retake in the status bars and i think they look better now. Usualy I made these for my personal dooming sections and just decided to share here. I apologize if they didn't look good.

Yes. Just did some touchup in the texture on left side extension so it dosen't look mirrored. If you compare to the one you did, you will notice some diference in the texture. Also I added proper credits in the post (sorry, miss that earlier) since I used your idea as reference. <3
