Widescreen Assets Pack and Appreciation Thread

For some reason whenever I load the wad in GZDoom, the statusbar is completely screwed up.

I did a few widescreen wads for Doom already, and they end up fine, so I'm not sure if it's something with Heretic, or if I'm doing it wrong.

iirc GZDoom already comes with widescreen assets for all the IWADs.

Yeah, but the BARBACK doesn't completely fill the screen, it leaves a bit of green marble sticking out on the sides, and I wanted to use this one to see if it would do the trick fixing that.

That just depends on how you're scaling the status bar. I set mine to 4 like it is for Doom and you're right, it doesn't fill the full screen. But that graphic seems to be more about making sure the horns don't abruptly get cut off.

It's scaled to 4 as well. I just want to know if it's possible to get the bar to work so it fills the whole thing. I know it is for doom, since I use a doom statusbar that fills the whole thing, so I assume it's possible for Heretic as well, I just don't know if I'm doing something wrong.
Image 1 is how the thing looks if I load the "widescreen" barback into a wad file.
Image 2 is a quick sidebar I put together for BTSX E1 (the one in this thread didn't fill the entire thing, even at scale 4, so I quick fixed it), and it's working fine.
Thing is, I don't know why the one in Heretic does that.

Sorry, I just realized I didn't actually load it properly and I have some widescreen fixes already applied. I actually get the same result as in your picture, but the solution is simple: give it an x-offset of 83 [ = (486-320)/2] so that it's positioned properly. When I did that it worked beautifully.

It seems I'm having offset problems with Hexen's weapon sprites in Crispy Doom.

The fighter's Axe and Hammer and the Cleric's Mace are the most obvious, not sure if there is an issue with the other weapons, but I just can't figure it out.

I recall somone making 16:9 assets for Valiant, which is of course wider than 16:10, so it should fit, I think. Probably just need to search the thread a bit.

Regarding DtWiD:
The following four widescreen assets need offset adjustments:

WIA10500/WIA10600: is 0,0 --> change to 248,136
WIA20001/WIA20002: is 0,0 --> change to 224,136

 

This does not solve one problem, however:
If you discover the secret level in ep.2, there will be an issue with WIA10700/WIA10701/WIA10702 (secret level spot on the map) later on when the background image is supposed to get darker since it keeps the original brightness level from WIMAP1. I think this was already a problem in the original and I don't know how to fix that.

I normally wouldn't have said anything but I've been getting a handful of different people demanding random shit from me in both Discord and Doomworld DM's. Seems like there's a wave of people expecting stuff to just be magically done for them, for free no less, and without even the slightest hint of basic manners - If you can't offer someone anything else for their time, the least you can do is make them feel valued or like their work would be appreciated. 👍

(Though on the flipside, don't be too much of a kiss-ass, heh 🙃)

Has anybody ever managed to make widescreen versions of the BFG replacement in Strain (PSYBA/PSYBB)? It looks pretty ugly with both sides of the weapon being cut off...

(EDIT: This is not the fixed version of the weapon, but the original sprites which need to be enhanced. Just to be on the safe side...)

I've wanted someone to make this so I could include it with some fixes I compiled for STRAIN. Would be nice to have.
