So where does your username come from?

I once made a stupid prank phone call to the operator. When she answered, I just laughed at her. A loud, evil, maniacal laugh. The whole school hallway heard me. My friend nicknamed me Hyena. The name probably wouldn't have stuck, except that soon afterwards we formed the Green Hamster Terrorist Group. It was in actuality not a terrorist group, but in fact a bunch of kids who drew green hamster skulls on things and wreaked almost havoc.
One of the gimmicks was that the members needed to have animal names. I just went with Hyena.

:)

My old username (before I came here) has a much different story, but I'll glaze over that one.

I thought this thread was about Username at first.

My nick comes from the first thing I thought when seeing a sarge in Doom (heh, I even guessed correctly it's a sergeant). Although it might have just been one in roughly the same area, this is the sergeant i generally associate with the term.

I have had the same username since 1993 on virtual arcade bbs.
STEALTHY Ivan...
This name came from a PC game called U.S. Navy Fighters, one of my favorite flight sims.

I've had the same username since Quake was released. When playing with my friends on the lan, I needed a name cause "Player" sucks. EarthQuake was the first thing that came to mind. I've used it as a player name in every game and every forum from that point on. So roughly, I've had this name for 7-8 years.

This festering sack of organs created me to battle his personal inadequacies. The proliferation of the Internet allowed me to expose him to the world. Unfortunately, he does have control over most of said organs, which means he can make life rather difficult for me.

DOOM was the first game he was really moved by, both as a technological achievement, and as an immersive world. That idea seems farfetched and stupid now, but I assure you that it was so.

My actual date of birth is a mystery, even to me. That being the case, I decided to use Judgement Day as my birthday. It just has a nice ring to it.

You could just use February 29th. That way, you'd have a birthday only once in four years. The only down side is that you'd have to wait more or less 80 years to be able to buy alcohol.

It's just as well that the meatbag has his own driver's license. I let him do the boozing. Unfortunately, the asshat has landed us in a dry county in Arkansas, and he goes to a school were alcohol isn't tolerated. What a dumbass.

My username is very obvious. Why did I choose it? Well, I have poor imagination and this was all I could think of.

Heh, I'd assumed you'd chosen it because it was similar to a pornstar's name. :p

My nickname actually came from two different places.

WILDWEASEL - Back when I used to play Half-Life on the 'net (before Steam, and before Team Fortress Classic even), I was with a clan called IWG - The Idiots With Guns. That clan consisted of me, my brother, and a couple of friends. I was asking my dad about a clever nickname and he suggested this. It's actually the code name for radar jamming equipment on a variant of the F-4 Phantom jet fighter.

R3000 - Model number of the main CPU in the Playstation, the MIPS R3000 RISC processor. My strategy to get my nick accepted in any online medium was this: Take any combination of adjective/noun, and add the name of a random technology to it. Sometimes I have used Wildweasel68k (named for 680x0 series, most notably in the Mac and Amiga systems), Wildweasel_3DFX (graphics chipset, now owned by nVidia), and WeaselMan6502 (main CPU in the NES and TurboGrafx 16).

Mine came from the movie, "Quick Change" (or maybe Easy Money); at any rate, it was the one with Bill Murray, Gina Davis, and Randy Quiad in it.

As for the origins of RTDscout, that's top secret shit.
