11's good.   Had no particular slot in mind.   Will try to tailor it to the appropriate progression level.

 

EDIT:  Not having much luck getting ahold of an Apeman.mid

Sounds perfect. I'm excited to play around with the resources this weekend, the weapons sound incredible. I'm also a bit stacked with prior commitments at the moment but hopefully it shouldn't take too long to put something together.

Yep, I'll have a weapons-only version ready upon release so people can use these guns with any maps they want.

I just got the coolest idea for a map. Ray Mohawk is going to crash some waves and some coconuts as he obliterates the local demon population of the Galapagos Island! (the demons destroyed the others :( )

I have a weird suggestion, but I don't recommend it; all of the Frank Zappa posters lead to or hint at a secret, but these posters are hidden in later maps (10 and up)

That's some rapid-fire slot claiming... I'll go ahead and claim one too! Not sure what I'm gonna make yet, but I'll think of something.

 

Something is wrong with your texture pack, by the way. It has all the patches separately included as textures.

Thanks for joining in, Scypek! I’m looking forward to seeing what you make.

 

Also, this current texture pack is actually a lot cleaner than it was to start, if you can believe it - at some point during FreeDoom development it seems all of the patches were also added as individual textures.. and since it wouldn’t really break compatibility, it’s not a big deal internally, but when trying to use it as a texture pack after the fact it’s a total headache.

 

I actually went through and removed a whole bunch of the tiny/oddly sized patches that had been added as textures (the most obvious offenders) just so people wouldn’t get confused and use them as textures only to end up with weird tutti-frutti everywhere. I think it’s clean enough in its current state, but I may go through and give it another onceover just to remove some more of those pesky patch textures.

I've already made a map however (maybe raw in design and gameplay but still)

The progression level is as if it was map08 or earlier in my opinion

(I think map slots can be rearranged depending on actual progression level in the future)

Cool little map, good visuals, fun gameplay that's on the easy side but still engaging, good MIDI choice, sticks to the theme reasonably well - Nice job, and congrats on being the first submission!

 

Also, when it comes to map slots, once all the maps are submitted we may need to do a little reorganizing. It's just a guideline, not set in stone. In this case, your map will clearly need to be a bit earlier in the wad. Plus, I'd always be willing to make room for a couple more submissions that could be added as secret maps, but I'm saving those slots "just in case" for the time being.

Normally I'm more of an early mapslot person... but now that I'm mapping for an overpowered mod of overpoweredness anyway, I'd be down to step outside my comfort zone a little and try to make a really intense late map. In fact... since no one seems to have claimed MAP20, I'd like to give it a go. I do have some nice ideas now, and I already developed something suitably epic... and somewhat cheesy-looking, but it seems to fit the theme just fine.

Voltcom, I adore this map. It has some teeth, I might move it to the 03 slot when all is said and done, unless all the other submissions are even harder. Very fun and great use of the new textures. One of them doesn’t seem to tile right in vanilla, but that’s an issue for me to fix under the hood. Nice work!

 

Scypek, I’m really looking forward to seeing what you come up with for that final slot :)
