SilverMiner Posted April 24, 2021 (edited) Map05 and Map14 EDIT: If these maps were released nowadays, they'd be probably gonna be received as modern vanilla ones If I was asked this question around ten years ago, I'd choose Map28: if I think about Doom 2, I instantly associate it with this one. It was cool experience to pistol start this map for me then Edited April 24, 2021 by SilverMiner 2 Quote Share this post Link to post

DynamiteKaitorn Posted April 25, 2021 MAP01. No really. I think this is a fairly solid opener map being short, snappy, easy to understand how enemies work and even teaching a new player "hey, there's traps so be careful!" as well as "hey! we got secrets in this game!". D_RUNNIN is also one heck of a banger for an opener map. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
xX_Lol6_Xx Posted April 26, 2021 Probably the courtyard, the citadel and bloodfalls. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

HombreSal Posted April 26, 2021 Monster Condo, but The Chasm and The Courtyard are also great too. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Geniraul Posted March 4, 2023 (edited) Map 16: Suburbs. I've always been attracted by the slaughterness of this map, and the atmosphere on this level in general is just astounding. Especially, I appreciate the lifts near the exit (I remember it took me a while to figure out how to manipulate with them when I first played this map) and the skull-caco secret. This map is full of secrets, and those in the library were alongside the first Doomcute elements ever made (but then there was, for example, the blood fountain on D1E4M5, not sure whether it can be considered as Doomcute). The ocher and blue colors harmonize really well together. Spoiler The revenants near the blue door and the specters behind it and next to the switch which serves to interact with the secret teleporter are also an amazing gimmick, in my opinion. This map is one of the first associations that I have when someone says "DOOM". Edited March 4, 2023 by Geniraul 2 Quote Share this post Link to post

volleyvalley Posted March 4, 2023 My all-time favorites are: MAP18: "The Courtyard", MAP20: "Gotcha!", MAP24: "The Chasm" and MAP27: "Monster Condo" for their gloomy and almost sinister atmosphere. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
maxmanium Posted March 4, 2023 The Courtyard! Great atmosphere, love the namesake which is also great for testing stuff. Probably favorite track from Doom II as well. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Faceman2000 Posted March 4, 2023 Map13 Downtown is my favorite. I love the atmosphere and the sandboxy nature of it. Maps 27, 28, and 29 are my next couple favorites - I love that stretch of the game so much. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
IHave10Shells Posted March 4, 2023 MAP07: Dead Simple The name says it all. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
prfunky Posted March 4, 2023 I was going to say map09, The Pit. But I had to fire up the old Rocket Launcher 2.0 to figure out which number it was and that got me to bumble into map10, Refueling Base. As much as I like the The Pit, I'm going to have to say that Refueling Base is better. It's such a good map. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
MrHellstorm17 Posted March 4, 2023 (edited) Bloodfalls. I like its sinister character Edited March 4, 2023 by MrHellstorm17 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
Eon Toad Posted March 5, 2023 Monster Condo. I'm a big fan of Sandy Petersen's playfully devious puzzle box maps, and this one goes all out on the puzzle box while mixing it with some really satisfying combat. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
