Tip: Heretic TITLEPIC is actually TITLE...

Hi all - I have a Heretic level as a PK3 that I wanted a title graphic for. So I includes a TITLEPIC.png in the /graphics namespace. On loading this in GZDoom and selecting Heretic, it plays fine, but the titlepic does not show. If I  select doom2 as IWAD, obviously it does not play, but the TITLEPIC shows. Some digging found a comment on this thread

that indicated that the correct name for the title graphic is actually TITLE(.png). This name change works as it should.

 

I thought I'd share this as it was quite frustrating until I found this answer, and it my be of use to someone else.

I think it is good to share this. I actually had the exactly same problem a year ago.

Thanks for sharing this, but, the easier and direct solution would have been to open Heretic.wad in Slade3 for an immediate answers to the problem:

Yes, that is how I found out, but people still may be confused by zdoom wiki: TITLEPIC is an image lump used in all ZDoom games as the title screen.
