does doom 3 on CD-ROM require a virtual machine on win10?

i found a copy of DOOM 3 & resurrection of evil on CD-ROM at a thrift store for $3 and decided to buy it and try to play it for shits and giggles, and unsurprisingly, it isn't working

i managed to get it to install, but when i tried running the game it asked for admin privileges and after giving it admin it just does nothing when i try to open it
