MajorRawne Posted May 8, 2021 All right, I give up. I've played through four megawads in a row with the low quality, not particularly good, original sound effects. Where can I get a copy of the PSX Sounds wad and preferably also the music wad? I can't find them from a Google search. Thank you very much! 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
P41R47 Posted May 8, 2021 (edited) Strange you didn't find them, i just put psx doom music wad and those were the first one to appear :/ Here is the music:https://www.moddb.com/games/doom/addons/psx-soundtrack-replacement-high-quality here are the sounds:https://www.moddb.com/addons/playstation-doom-sounds-for-the-brutal-doom Beside that, i still found the original sounds and music entertaining. Strange that those four mapsets, besides Scythe, has the regular doom music. Here another one that may interest you:https://www.moddb.com/mods/doom-64-vanilla-for-mods-1pk3-only-out-download It change the textures, monsters and guns to those on Doom 64. Both the original game soundtracks, and some extended/remastered versions exist. You can then download FLAC versions of the albums and then recompress them to whatever quality you desire. And it's always nice to show him some support. :) As for sound effects, those actually aren't hard to rip at all with PSX tools like PSound. Back before the TC changed how the music wad worked, I did this myself, replaced the TC's music with his high quality versions from his site, then again with the 20th anniversary versions. I also went out of my way to make a public version with the files reduced in bitrate and converted to ogg to not step on Audrey's toes, but a few days before I was about to compile them and release them, the TC changed everything music related and my work was wasted >.>; The Doom 64 music I also converted did go to use though; Doom 64 Retribution used them for a time, and they are an optional download now. MajorRawne Posted May 9, 2021 Thanks very much everyone! And yes, it felt like all the megawads seemed to use mostly Doom2 and especially Ultimate Doom music, but they were mostly "classic" megawads. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Muusi Posted May 21, 2021 If you use something else than GZDoom, i made a simple dehacked version of PSX Sounds that doesn't cut off the sounds like Vanilla does. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
