Doom 90's Level CD-ROMS

I know the wads themselves are available in other places like wad-archive.com

and the disc images are all available on internet archive

 

HOWEVER

 

there is an abundance with different file formats than ISO and it is quite a process to get them all converted or burned. You also need the right software.

So here they all are in ISO format!

Many thanks!  i was looking for these some time ago but couldn't find even Maximum Doom.  Now finally i get to see if shovelware lives up to its reputation or if i end up loving them...

Mmm... I saw a ISO file that it's kinda problematic with a release in these forums because it's probably a warez file... I'm talking about Doom I & II CD.iso

 

Is this just a shovelware CD image with a misleading title? I'm on my phone so i don't know if that thing is safe or not...

The Doom I & II one seems to be corrupted anyway.

 

But more importantly, oh my dang, you've uploaded a version of H!Zone that actually works! And it turns out they really do merge the sprites for every episode, even though they're clearly only meant for the first. I guess Dream Worlds is supposed to just start in a volcanic region with random bar stools and snowy trees.

Yeah the H!Zone was from my actual existing CD-rom I got back in the day. Doom I & II was in fact shovelware. D!Zone 3000 didn't work either for some reason. I'll have to fix these two.

Wow! First thing I thought of when I clicked link was "Tricks of the Doom Programming Gurus", and sure enough it is there.

 

I had begged and begged for this as a young teen for a christmas present, then didn't have a damn clue how to use any of it! Wish I still had the big book.

The Ultimate Add-on Collection for Doom1/2 was the first I got, same day my family got a computer.   It's so old it has folders of just a bunch of sounds and graphics with .bat files to put them into your iwad with dmgraph or dmaud.   There's some hilarious stuff just to browse through.   Of course there's already made wads such as MSTDoom.    As far as its map wad selection with its launcher, it's all Doom 1 maps and it runs them through dm1todm2.exe if you're using Doom 2, but then there are folders of a bunch of actual Doom 2 maps they just didn't bother to set up.

 

Now Demon Gate Mega Collection, over 6000 levels, seemed to actually have good quality control for being so jam-packed with all the wads compressed.  3D Alchemy might have had the best quality control but obviously a smaller selection.

This is great news! I happen to be a bit of a fan of the shovelware cds, I've got about 15 of them myself! I think you have all of mine, though.

 

Love Doom shovelware - I would play the WADs on those discs for hours and hours, back in the day... Still fire them up every now and then!

Thanks for this!  I downloaded the 3D Game Alchemy (which I had back in 1997 but lost a long time ago) and sure enough, under "DOOM/SPECIAL" there are WADs called "ALL_E1" and "DOOMTOWN", neither of which I could find on the archives when I looked earlier.  I vaguely recalled "P-PLANT" from "ALL_E1" with its E1M3 slot and odd red rooms with lights on the floor.  SKYCITY's also on there, and while I think the other two are clearly dated (though with a lot of nostalgia value), I think SKYCITY still holds up quite well today.  These were the first custom WADs that I ever played.  I'm assuming I must have mainly tried out the WADs from the Special section as I don't recognise the others.

For the sake of completeness, though it's not on the OP's list, I remember buying The Snakepit of Doom somewhere in 1996; it was just another shovelware disc no better or worse than the others. It doesn't seem to be in Google's index, though.
