This is a post detailing a map made by the Duck team, a group of individuals who got together to create an ass kicking doom map for your own pleasure! Originally this map was started by me back in October as a way to pass the time in quarantine, eventually I learned enough stuff to make something playable out of thin air. It was one of the most fun thing I had ever done so I kept going and going with no stop really, no end goal in mind, just seeing what I could create. Eventually this blob out of STARTAN2 textures started to resemble an actual level, a house, a house environment was the most fun for me to create due to the fact that you can make something look like real life in the doom engine within vanilla limitations. My Main inspirations were build engine levels and some hl2 maps that were just a house in the middle of nowhere, they gave off a strange feeling that most source games have. Some time ago I showed off my map to a friend of mine who had previous experiences with UDB to get some tips, eventually he officially entered the duck team along with some other people who also assisted in the map making process, currently the duck team is split between level designers and the people who are designing the a weaponset based on duck2 which will use the ACE engine. Currently the duck2 team consists of 3 members: The Almighty Egg- That's me by the way, the person who started the project and is the lead designer of the map called "duck2" Omtat- The first person to assist with mapping, created a lot of stuff that would rather be used as bases for bigger things (like the boats!), Average gold source mods enthusiast. Ikea Software- Decorate God(not the doom editing program) helped tremendously with the map making progress and is responsible for most of the texture work in the later areas, thief of Greek cuisine and fellow Blood fan. Many special Thanks to: Omarlego: First person who gave feedback on how to improve the map, average playtester. Yuriko- person who inspired me to make a doom map, tried the map back when it was 2-3 rooms at most. Dogelord- second full time mapper, helped fix a LOT of problems we had in development plus their architecture is cool. Vixxie- helping make the forklifts. Yomai for making the title screen. Yes actually! a "duck3" is under development however its set time until completion is still unknown due to real life complications. For now here is a sneak peek of what's done so far.
