Every time I have a dream about being in a restaurant, I always look for nachos in the menu, so I go with nachos. I never get to eat them though.

ხაჭაპური აჭარული any day of the week for ever and ever

Too bad it's hard to find in the US outside of a few big cities

In case anyone's wondering, @StupidBunny's favorite food appears to be a Georgian favorite loosely translated to Adjara khachapuri.

I have to admit, it looks delicious. I'd probably eat it any day of the week too.

It's too difficult to select one as moods change, over indulgence, treats vs quality has an impact.

So I will break it down like this:

Favourite continent food: European

If I had to choose one cultures food: Italian

Favourite takeaway foods: Pizza and Burgers

Favourite meat dish: American style BBQ spare ribs

Favourite homemade dishes: Mum's pizza and saucy cheese calzones

Favourite entrees: Baked camembert cheese, Buschetta or high quality inhouse dips with warm slightly crispy bread

Chimichangas, which is like some form of pork I think similar to pulled pork really I'm not 100% sure, in an unfinished flour tortilla and fried I think. Now you look up a picture of a chimichanga and the thing is basically a fried burrito and I think that's what it literally is and my family is weird and just calls something else this, but the way my family does it is you put the meat in the unfinished tortilla and fold it into a half circle and fork the edges the close it and put a hole in it for venting I would guess, so same ingredients basically. Deep frying the unfinished tortilla leaves it tasting really good, i mean homemade tortillas already taste really good, I eat em on their own at times, of course it is a lot of effort and space to prep to make the chimichangas, usually take up the whole table with flour tortillas in prep for frying for this. My favorite food, but the meat on its own is just alright, it's when put in the chimichanga that it's really good.

Butterfly venison steak cooked over charcoal. With a little pinch of garlic, salt, and pepper, medium rare. Especially when the deer has been feeding on alfalfa and drinking fresh river water. Now that is tasty.

Otherwise, pepperoni pizza or New York strip steak. Philly Cheese Steaks are pretty good as well. Or an omelette with cheddar cheese, and sauteed onions, and green and red peppers. Yes I'm kind of a carnivore.

Kansai-style pork okonomiyaki .  Or a bean and carnitas burrito smothered with green chili.  Or saag paneer.

So you like Mexican Food?

I can't tell if you're being facetious.

The only venison I've ever eaten has always been gamey as hell, and has been totally unappealing. I've eaten farm-raised bison, but found the meat to be too dry. The same with farm-raised ostrich. I've eaten tenderloin from wild-caught elk, slow-cooked over an open flame, and it was excellent; not a hint of gaminess. I tried marinating and grilling farm-raised alligator meat at home, but it retained its gamey flavor.

But enough about what I don't like, which is the opposite of what this thread is about.

Yes, Mexican-American food can be quite tasty, but so can authentic Mexican food. My first time in Mexico City I picked up a menu and couldn't understand it because it was in Español. I believe I latched onto the word "taco" and decided to order it. I almost sent it back when they brought me an open-faced taco, because I was so used to seeing the folder variety and assumed they had gotten my order wrong. I'm glad I kept it, as it was incredibly delicious.

In no particular order:

Pizza - ordered in, preferably with pepperoni, onions and black olives

Spaghetti bolognese - I make this at home. I like to think I've gotten pretty good at it. Don't skimp on the garlic and oregano.

Spaghetti and meatballs - also made at home to my own recipe, with lots of basil and a dash of chilli oil.

Lasagna - I have a possibly unhealthy liking for the ready made microwave versions done by Tesco. The ones that serve two people because I'm a greedy bastard.

Doner kebab - another thing I like to order in, preferably the large version with both chicken and lamb. I eat them with a full salad, but avoid places that serve them with lettuce, instead of cabbage. Places that serve lettuce with their kebabs have no fucking clue.

Burgers - It's pretty hard to fuck these up, and even a mediocre burger is still pretty tasty in my opinion. I like mine fancy with brioche buns and blue cheese slices, along with extra bacon and a fried egg.

Chicken and french fries - I like the boneless strips that come covered in the same stuff as hot wings.

Indian-style curry - there's a place near me that does a very nice Chicken Tikka Madras, which I usually have with Special Pilau Rice. Of course I must have lamb samosas and a Shami kebab to go with it.

Full English Breakfast - Back bacon, Lincolnshire sausages, black pudding, fried eggs, baked beans, tomatoes. Great for a lazy Sunday, or if someone else is cooking, a great start to a day full of physical activity.

Chilli con carne - it's been ages since I've properly cooked this myself, because I'm the only bugger in the household who likes it. Is putting grated cheese on top a British thing? I've never seen Americans mention it.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head. It's a goddamn miracle that I somehow managed to avoid gaining weight until this global pandemic struck... but then again I did recently turn 34...

I have a huge love for sushi and appreciate it in all forms, but it's not readily available where I live and is thus only a special delicacy I get to indulge in once in a blood moon. So failing that, I can't get enough of pasta and bread biscuits.

Cincinnati Chili uses shredded cheese. It's not the same as Chili con Carne, but cheese is used atop the chili, and in copious quantities.

And, of course, there is the always-popular chili-cheese fries.

That's an awful lot of cheese. I tend to use it more as a garnish. Also it looks like the chilli has been put on top of spaghetti pasta in the photograph? I don't think I've ever had chilli with spaghetti, but I could see it working if the chilli was home made, perhaps with additional herbs.

Chilli-cheese fries is one of those things that sound good in principle, but I've yet to come across any place that can do them just right. I wonder if that's down to a relative lack of experience? Not many places do that kind of thing round where I live, it's usually the fancy burger places and such.

I'm a sandwich enthusiast, from burgers to clubs to subs. But for me it's hard to beat one particular homemade sandwich, which I don't really have a name for, but which goes as follows.

Warm up some sliced ham in a skillet and then add it between two slices of pepper jack cheese on thick-cut brioche bread. Put the resultant sandwich in the same skillet so the residue from the ham adds a little extra flavor to the bread, butter it, and get it crispy.

If you're not a big pepper jack person then you can switch it out for cheddar, in which case black pepper is a nice complement. Mustard is also a pretty good addition. That's the wonderful thing about sandwiches though - you can do whatever you want.

Sandwiches are like Doom maps - there needs to be a floor and a ceiling, but the size and content and combination of what you put in between is entirely up to you, and that limitless customizability is what makes it such a great food/game.

I don't know if this is a favorite food, but I hope it will be. I'm going to make Shakshuka for my wife and myself tonight if she gets home early enough. I did a grocery order through Walmart+ today and ordered everything I need for it. It arrived shortly after 1pm, nice and fresh. So, as long as she gets home by 7:30 p.m., I'm making the stuff. I hope it turns out okay.

Pizza, hands down. I live in Buffalo (yes, we invented the Buffalo Wing), and we have a local pizza joint pretty much every four or five blocks.

My favorite spot is Imperial Pizza. It's a bit pricey, but it's to die for, and boy will it jack your stomach up if you can't handle meat because we love throwing lots of meat on our pies. Absolutely authentic Buffalo style, right down to the cup-and-char pepperoni.

If you're really curious to try it, they'll overnight you a pie anywhere in the Lower 48.

Yes, that's the draw for Cincinnati Chili. That, and chopped, raw onions.

What an excellent analogy.

It just so happens that I've eaten Buffalo Wings at Anchor Bar, which lays claim to inventing them.

That would be correct. That said, most locals will be torn between them or Duff's, and virtually any local shop serves them as well. Here, pretty much all wings are Buffalo Wings, after all.

The Shakshuka turned out better than expected. It also turned out to be more complicated than expected - prep time plus cooking was stated as 30 minutes, but it took me an hour and 20 minutes. Could mark that up to first-time jitters in making it, just being extra-careful. But anyway, it was delicious. Definitely the most exotic thing I've ever cooked up in this house. Don't know if I'll try again, since my wife said it didn't really fit as a dinner dish (she called it brunch, and I don't cook brunch often if at all). Still, I'm glad I tried it once, and I've got leftovers.
