printz Posted May 16, 2021 (edited) I really wish we could see the individual reactions per post without having to click the number. It would have been much more interesting to see how they rank, and which kinds of posts tend to get the megasphere vs. which ones get the blur sphere more. As it is now, it's just a half-implemented novelty. You don't see the kind of reaction on your notification either. Maybe @Linguica or @Bloodshedder can modify them to show up instead of that generic dimmed soulsphere? Or to show what kind of reaction you get, on notification. I think, at one point, Linguica did post that it was specifically decided that they would have no inherit meaning. They didn't want a ranking or rating system, and it was intended as just a fun novelty. Which I think is how it should be. Might not've been Ling specifically, but I recall reading that. Didn't want it to be a like or dislike system, or thumbs up or down. 3 Quote Share this post Link to post

I hate that power up and I think it's more of an insult to give it to someone as opposed to being a compliment. Same ocean, different boat. I could never decide on a use for it other than signifying to the other person that I'm confused about something they said. I gave one just now to @Gez for a laugh and that's probably the first time I have ever used it. Edited May 16, 2021 by Final Verdict 2 Quote Share this post Link to post

Yeah, too bad Gez won't know he received a blur sphere until he got curious enough to look at the details on the number of likes on his post. This is the problem I'm bringing up, that the feature is there but is not effective. It's just a waste of time for the users, or a trick to make you click twice, as someone else said, without giving any benefit for that. Or it can be considered a mockery of social media, by giving you the illusion of choice, but failing to deliver. This is NOT about liking/disliking posts, this should be about liking posts in differently flavored ways, which is practically only half implemented. In the past I have wondered myself why it wasn't implemented in that way. On the other hand I can see the wisdom in leaving it as it is and not making it about likes. But I understand what you're saying here isn't really about like/dislike. I imagine that changes the whole picture for those who are against it because then it's more about cleaning it up and nothing to do with likes, trophies and so on. I wouldn't be against the icons at least being in some kind of category like the system many of us already use. That's just organising them so that everyone understands what each one does. Nothing wrong with that. Honestly though, I'm fairly indifferent to it either way. A nice thing to have but not required. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
