id software office plan 92-92

Hi guys!

Do you guys have the plan of the old id software office back in 92-93?

Mr. Romero shared that to me and it was from a book but I lost the file. :-(

I just need the plan of the office with labels. If I can get the measurement, it will be better. :-)

This is probably from "Game Engine Black Book: DOOM," which has a floor plan near the beginning of Chapter 4 (Team and Tools). Similarly, the Game Engine Black Book: Wolfenstein 3D has a layout of their previous space in Madison, WI.

Right, but I figured that would be more in the sense to trivia/factoids/hidden treasures and such surrounding Doom itself, Xaser. Having the blueprints to id Software's old office just seems like a rather weird and obscure thing to think any of us would have from where I'm sitting. It doesn't strike me as the kind of thing that would've ever been publicly available.

It's certainly a long shot, but that doesn't mean it's cool to try and make the OP feel stupid for asking about it.

Of course. I certainly wouldn't mean for that. I just found the question a tad baffling is all. Incidentally, if OP indeed originally got it from Romero himself, then I guess he could just ask him to give him another copy of it.

Most assuredly, Marn. More than happy to be proven wrong on that front. The blueprints to the building of a private enterprise from 20 years ago just seemed like an odd question to me is all, since that's normally not something you can just Google, y'know? Nor do I think the likelihood of any of us here having a copy on hand is all that strong. If someone here by some very slim margin ACTUALLY has it, I'd be very curious as to know how they got their hands on it in the first place.

Also, why the plan would be in the book then? It will make sense when you will see my work

If you're already in contact with Romero and he has indeed already shared it with you once before, why don't you just ask him to send you another copy rather than asking us about it in the first place?

Cause I lost contact with him for a reason. Thats Why. 

I had a project and he helped me by answering all my questions. There is no more question to be asked so we close the case. 

There was à Lot of question that I Will share to you guys the answer within à video. But It's not for now as I want to study Blender, the 3D program.

That doesn't make any sense though. Why not simply email him again or contact him via Twitter? He's always been pretty receptive and would likely help you.

I THINK the real reason, Is because he got pissed off at some point. I asked a question about the programming language and I misunderstood him twice. And he repeated what He told me and he didnt like it. However, he wanted to make sure that I understood and I did. 

I asked specific questions about computer's program and technology for my video and he found out that my knowledge was limited. 

So Maybe He thought that the more I ask question, the more I would be mixed up. And he Just stopped.

Thats my interpretation. 

But we settled down and every thing Is clear to me. I have the info in my files. 

He told me enough.

Okay, so you're afraid of asking him to give you the file again because you think you've annoyed him too much eh? I guess that can be a bit of an issue. He'd still be your best chance since, in all likelihood, he's the only one who has it. Really don't know how any of us could help you when you can go straight to the source and simply request that he give it to you again.

Do you realize how many questions I asked him ?

One time for the summer and a second time 6 months later. He was happy to answer me yes, but because of what I told you (my theory) He Just stopped responding. 

So It's no use to keep writing him over and over. He was very kind with me. 

I think He answered every bit of detailed question cause he thought that my project was interesting. 

So I sent him my video that I created to show what I can do cause my little project Is à visual documentary. 

And he said that my video was awesome!

That's a big encouragement for me.

Also, I can understand his point of view. 

If you try to explain technical details to someone that has s limited knowledge, the more questions he Will ask, the more questions Will pop up. 

So He Just stopped. Makes sense.
