GZDoom OpenGl Error

Recommended Posts

Hello everybody!

After downloading a windows and driver update every time I open GZDoom with the OpenGl renderer I get an error: "R_OPENGL: OpenGL driver not accelerated!"

This didn't happen before the updates so I'm very confused.

If anybody could help that would be great.

What are your specs (CPU/GPU/RAM) and which GZDoom version are you running?

  • Install latest AMD Catalyst
  • Upgrade to GZDoom 4.6.0 (Released yesterday)
  • What was the Windows 10 update about? Was it Windows 10 21H1 or 20H2?

I installed AMD Catalyst and it did nothing.

I installed GZDoom 4.6.0

I don't know how to check what Windows 10 update it was.

CPU and GPU should definitely run GZDoom. Even if it were trying to run off the IGP on the 4590, that's still OpenGL 4.3 compliant, so it should still run.

It's definitely sounding like some sort of driver weirdness, though.

This means API calls are indicating your card does not support hardware acceleration (which should not be the case).

It certainly feels like a driver update was unsuccessful or problematic in some way. I recommend going into Device Manager and checking for "yellow warning" signs and resolving them. In addition you might consider uninstalling your graphics drivers and reinstalling them to see if it has any effect.

I uninstalled and then reinstalled my graphics drivers but nothing changed.
