brutal doom ai in vanilla?

I got bored and was wondering if it rips the brutal doom ai from brutal doom and made into a vanilla gamellay experience, like idk how to make this make sense I want the enemies to act like and fucktion like bd without the brutal, as in the bullets as projectiles and making them do the same damage as vanilla but still could burn at you just fairly inaccurate idk, I hope someone knows where to find this if you can understand what I'm asking

Completely impossible. Brutal Doom's AI and features relies on all sorts of things the vanilla engine literally cannot do.

 

Or am I mistaking you, and you are basically saying you'd like to keep some elements of it (like hitscan enemies shooting actual projectiles and such) in a sourceport still?

 

If so, yeah that's possible. But taking what Brutal Doom can do, stripping out most of the brutal stuff, and having it still run under Vanilla is not really workable. Vanilla is a LOT more restricted. Its main source of modifying things was DEHACKED, and that would only let you change pointer states, not add new ones, which is basically what you'd require - adding totally new ones without changing an old one required a Boom-compatible engine, and at that point you're no longer Vanilla.

All true, but a lot of people describe GZDoom without mods as "vanilla". OP probably wants some kind of GZDoom mod that keeps some of Brutal Doom's monster behavior but lacks most other Brutal Doom features.

This was my attempt a few years ago to reorganize Brutal, make it more understandable and just keep the bits I liked. You’ll probably have some different ideas about what should stay and go, but it’s certainly possible to have the enemies’ enhanced behaviour exist in a more vanilla-ish setting.

I think he just wants vanilla Doom's weapons and enemies, but with the cool brutal Doom AI helper dudes (those things seriously kick ass). Forgive me if I've misunderstood.. I think a lot of other people out there would love this too though. You could even have the helper AIs replace invisibility orbs which everyone hates anyway. I think that's what they already do in BD.

 

This could be a fun mod and I think many would enjoy having just the helper AIs. Brutal Doom and DECORATE stuff is way out of my wheelhouse and paygrade, but I like the idea.

Doesn't MBF let you use helper dogs in any WAD?  So something like that?

Kind of unrelated, but for anyone unaware, BD (current) does have a purist mode that strips a lot of features in order to be closer to normal Doom gameplay, although still nowhere close to Vanilla.
