StyxGaming Posted May 25, 2021 So i dont know where to post this but im having issues with textures in plutonia 2. im just starting to use source ports and whatnot and am using the current build of gzdoom with an official doom 2 wad and this is what my game looks like on level 1. Any ideas? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Gez Posted May 25, 2021 5 minutes ago, StyxGaming said: doom 2 wad This is basically your problem. Plutonia 2 was designed to be loaded with the original Plutonia as the IWAD, not with Doom II. There are plenty of differences in the texture definitions between Doom II and Plutonia, so all the texture problems you encounter are caused by this. 7 Quote Share this post Link to post

How do you change the iwad? I have plutonia.wad as well but my only 2 options when starting gzdoom are Doom 2 hell on earth and Doom 2 unity. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Mayomancer Posted May 25, 2021 You must have the plutonia.wad file in the same folder as gzdoom for it to appear in the iwad selection menu, or use a launcher like ZDL which also allows you to manage pwads and source ports easier. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post

Maybe ill take a look at ZDL. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
floatRand Posted May 25, 2021 You can also make batch file for running the wads. I am a lazy bastard so I do that at times. Eternity has a iwad selector at start, too. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
StyxGaming Posted May 25, 2021 Still having an issue even using ZDL. I have GZdoom set as source port, Plutwad.wad set as Iwad and Plut2.wad as the wad and still not getting Plutonia as an option for Iwad. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
StyxGaming Posted May 25, 2021 Nvm i found the issue. Was trying to use an non official Plutonia wad. Went and got the one off steam since i already had doom 2 and now plutonia and tnt are showing up as iwad selections properly. Thanks all for the helpm turns out i was just trying to be cheap haha 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
Teo Slayer Posted May 25, 2021 Just use Plutonia. Don't use Doom 2 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Rudolph Posted September 7, 2022 (edited) Since the original Plutonia 2 thread is too old to be replied to, I am taken the liberty to bump this one instead. I believe I have been aware of Plutonia 2 for at least half a decade, but for whatever reason, I have never finished it. As I am typing this, I have made it to MAP31. So far, it is an excellent - albeit frustrating at times, expectedly so for a Plutonia sequel - mapset. I have been also surprised to recognize some Ultimate Doom inspirations here and there, i.e. MAP15 is so very clearly a stealth remake of E4M2: Perfect Hatred. My only gripes are the geometry glitches (the bridges in MAP11: Arch-Violence that you can get stuck in), the occasional unreachable count items (usually soulspheres) and the presence of vanilla tracks in an otherwise original (excellent) soundtrack. I mean, that last one is not that big of a deal, since the chosen tracks do complement the levels well; it is just a weird omission. Now I am looking forward to Plutonia 3... the real one! General Rainbow Bacon Posted September 7, 2022 ^There are also 2 Plutonia Revisited projects that have some quite good Plutonia maps. Check those out too. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Rudolph Posted September 7, 2022 I am aware of those as well and I will! :D 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Rudolph Posted September 8, 2022 @Nevander Yes! That is the one I was referring to. Luckily, I did not fall for all the Plutonia-theme April Fools' pranks. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Seconding this. The second PRCP slaps. I'm only up to map 05 but so far it's a blast. I remember watching Tarnsman play the PRCP2 beta live on Twitch a while ago, and got to see the fabled doomcute sector crocodiles/alligators in one of the maps (I forgot which one lol). The first PRCP was eh :/ imo, which you can take my opinion as a grain of salt, but your mileage may very on that megawad. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
