Most and Least Favorite Game or Game Series

RPG - Chrono trigger, Witcher 3, RuneScape

shooter - blood, doom (all), halo 1-3, CoD 4-9
sports - THPS 1-8, street vol. 2

adventure - uncharted 

puzzle - Tetris, Portal 1-2

sandbox - RCT2, minecraft

 

really don’t have a least favorite. I’ve had games that have bored me the most, and the worst offender of those is probably the assassins creed franchise and most horror survival games

Yeah, I don't like anything about Bioshock Infinite. I would have preferred a city in the sky that is fucked up, decayed and crawling with evil shit. Somehow I forgot to add this game to my list. Bleagh.

My favorites are probably Doom, Quake, Heretic/HeXen, Toshinden and  Shadow hearts

 

My least favorites are probably Fifa and other realistic sports games.

For the first i'd say Doom, Dark Souls, Monster Hunter. There's also a lot of series i still like a lot but don't play too often/am not good at like Touhou, Street Fighter

 

As for least favorite, there's a lot of series i feel indifferent with but not necessarily dislike, also others that i don't like but can see how they appeal to their target audience, the only ones i would actually put in here are stuff like FIFA and NBA releasing practically the same money sink of a 'game' every year, or mobile games that are very low-effort and pretty much just a vessel for ads and micro-transactions. Dishonorable mention to Balan Wonderworld as well though, what a flop lol

One of the first Games for the Gameboy i've got was Castlevania Adventures, besides good Music it was so damn horse shit, that i thought that every Castlevania is filled with bad Design and cheap Deaths.

After more than two Decades i've played Castlevania IV on the Mini Super Nintendo and it was to my Surprisng damn good! (Got myself even a physical Copy).
The NES ones are also pretty fun and i even like the N64 Castlevania.

I will choose Games i am playing again and again, so i can say they have stand the Test of Time:

Super Mario World and Kart, Turtles in Time, Parodius, Doom, Simcity 2000 and 4, Quake 3, UT2k4, Civilization (2,4,5) Pokemon (1-2 Gen, Stadium, (3)DS Games) Starcraft (Singleplayer), GTA3, Monkey Island 1-3, Day of the Tentacle, Street Fighter 2, Streets of Rage

 

Games i've only played "once" over a longer Time and are burned into my Brain:

Breath of Fire IV, World of Warcraft, Morrowind, Skyrim, Fallout 1-3 & New Vegas, Zelda Ocarina of Time, Knights of the old Republic, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, Rome Total War

 

Games i can't stand:

Everything with Microtransactions.

Lion King (SNES), Turtles (C64) (i wanted it so badly to be good as a 3 year old, but it was Trash, Turtles in Time saved me), Jurassic Park (SNES)

 

I am pretty sure i am forgetting Tons of Games i like as Diablo 1, Doom 3, Metal Gear Solid, Tomb Raider 2 etc.

I don't generally like a series of games. In almost every case I can think of, I only like the first game of a series or I think the first game needed a few refinements, reached its peak in the 2nd game, and then went downhill.

 

Series that I feel peaked at #2:

 

Mortal Kombat

Fallout

Age of Empires

Warcraft

Doom

Myst

Elder Scrolls

Ratchet & Jak & Spyro & Crash

 

Gosh, pretty much everything I can think of coming out of N America and Europe. The exceptions for me are the big classic Japanese properties. Mario, Castlevania, Mega Man, Zelda, etc, all have their ups and downs but are great overall.

 

I dislike crafting, unlockable content, rpg mechanics in games that aren't rpg's, I don't care about cutscenes, I don't want to do chores or just walk around . . . so generally I dislike most videogames, especially from the past 15 years or so.

Ah you can keep your Eyes open, they are throwing Stuff out as Streets of Rage 4, Shantae, Ion Fury, Pillars of Eternity and even Ubisoft made Might and Magic X.

Here's mine for the RPG genre

Best: Suikoden, even despite the turn-based combat and numerous gameplay, Konami excelled heavily in the game plots and the tie-ins to later games, plus with lots of characters, interesting war battles and duels, and excellent music there's so much to take in.

 

Worst: An obscure one known as Deep Dungeon which had four games. All were dungeon crawlers but were basically poor man's Wizardry without a lot of the really fun elements of those games. I don't really dislike any other RPG franchises.

Yeah that's good advice thank you. I have enjoyed my Switch for the past couple of years. Breath of the Wild was the first AAA game to really grab me since . . . Halo 2 maybe? Shantae is on my (rather deep) wishlist. I mostly keep an eye on the indie scene but I'm trying to stay open-minded.

I don't know about least favorite, but man do i fucking miss the Megaman X series... If any, that might be my favorite by far, though i doubt they'll follow through with all of the innovations X8 brought to the table (if they ever make a new game in that series anyways), just because of how much X7 ruined people's interest in the series and caused X8 to be probably one the most underappreciated of the X games.

Favorite: Doom, Prince of Persia, Half-Life, System Shock, Deus fuckin Ex, Star Wars Dark Forces/Jedi Knight series, Megaman, Sonic the hedgehog (from the first one all the way to Sonic Adventure 2), Halo is also a good contender but it´s too recent for me.

 

Least favorite: Assassin Creed - I haven´t played it but the series unofficialy killed Prince of Persia, so it can suck my dick. Call of Duty - I don´t hate it, I just wasn´t never into it.

My favourite series after Doom is probably the Legend of Zelda, specifically Link's Awakening. Metroid is probably a close contender, but I haven't played enough of those games yet. Bioshock, Dishonoured, Wolfenstein, The Elder Scrolls and Fallout probably have most of my fondest gaming memories.

 

As for my least favourite game, I'll stick with the worst experience I ever had with a game. When we first got our PS2 one of our uncles gifted us a game that my dad wouldn't let us play because it was rated M. That game sat on a shelf for over fifteen years, unopened. I grew up and even when I had started playing more mature games that one just stayed on the shelf, mostly because I'd forgotten about it. One day I saw it and thought now was the time to give it a try. I hated everything about it. The gameplay never clicked with me, and the plot felt pretentious as all hell. The main menu used triangle instead of x to confirm your choices, which really screwed with me. That game was Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. I did not get past the first level before I quit in frustration. I looked it up and was shocked to learn that it was one of the most beloved game series. I hated everything about it.

Most: Couldn't pick one if I had to. Pokemon and Doom for their respective communities' amazing creative output, Castlevania for immersive design, combat, and map progression (seriously, play SotN if you haven't already), Crash Bandicoot for platformer, and Dead Space for horror.

 

Least: None, although I wish something was done about the predatory monetisation policies so widely employed by the AAA companies nowadays. It has to stop. Also, Call of Duty - I don't dislike the series itself, but it was sad to see so many of my favourite franchises attempt to copy specific gameplay elements from the title to appeal to a wider audience (most likely the decision of management, not devs) and then wind up half-baked, uninspired products with immense unrealised potential.

I don't have my least favorite game. But my favorite one is undoubtedly Minecraft. I just get high from this game. How many years have passed, I still play and will play here.  If I was also paid money for the fact that I play so much time, then I probably would have been a millionaire.
