Help with gliding?

For some reason I can't seem to get glides to work at all(Most notably the E2M6 void glide) and I don't know why this may be. Not that much of a problem, just curious as to why this happens.

What type of glide? Unfortunately that term applies to several unrelated speedrunning tricks. I assume you're talking about void glides since you mentioned E2M6, but in case you're also having trouble with squeeze glides (squeezing through a 32-unit wide gap), I found ZeroMaster's post on the topic very helpful:

I'm not familiar with void glides so I can't help you much there, but I do know that there are actually multiple void glides possible on E2M6, so it may help to specify which one you're trying.

Besides the question Shepardus posted, I think whether you're using shorttics is another thing to consider, or even what sourceports you're using etc.
