Blaster9078 Posted June 9, 2021 (edited) So I've started getting into recording demos on doom and I really like it, but, in prboom+ and dsda doom I feel a bit of mouse lag even when v-sync is off. The lag is most definitely there because I don't feel it in crispy doom. I really want to use dsda doom for recording demos since it has more features for speedrunning and has wider compatibility with PWADS than crispy doom. If someone could help me minimize this lag I would greatly appreciate it. If there is no way I'll just use crispy doom since so far I've been only running the official IWADS. Mike Stu Posted June 13, 2021 Is it like input lag or more like it's choppy/jittery? If it's the latter, reducing your mouse polling rate to something like 125 may help (a lot of gaming mice software have this option in the profiles section). You might also wanna double check if "Enhance pointer precision" is disabled in the Windows' mouse settings as well. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

It's more noticable when quickly switching directions 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
BerserkerNoir Posted June 13, 2021 I thought It was lag, because I used to play a lot in ZDOOM derivated ports. But thats was not the case, movement is rather different. Not sure if its the same thing with you. If you played it before without issues then something is wrong. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

What are your mouse settings in the cfg file? Mine look like this and it feels fine: Spoiler # Mouse settings use_mouse 1 mouse_sensitivity_horiz 18 mouse_sensitivity_vert 0 [...] # Prboom-plus mouse settings mouse_acceleration 0 mouse_sensitivity_mlook 18 mouse_doubleclick_as_use 1 mouse_carrytics 1 [...] movement_mouselook 0 movement_mousenovert 0 movement_maxviewpitch 90 movement_mousestrafedivisor 4 movement_mouseinvert 0 On 6/13/2021 at 3:17 PM, BerserkerNoir said: I thought It was lag, because I used to play a lot in ZDOOM derivated ports. Mouse behavior feels very different between ports, even between forks like UMPAINFO and DSDA-DOOM. Crispy even has acceleration on by default for increased accuracy to DOS, which is absent by default from others (could this have something to do with your perceived lag in DSDA and UMAPINFO?). Personally I like the standard DSDA-DOOM and GZDoom inputs the best. Edit: Firebert reported a similar issue in the UMAPINFO port thread. If all else fails, try running x32 with x86 dependencies (although it doesn't seem to be a definitive solution). Also, might wanna try running this with and without a launcher like PrLauncher or ZDL to see if it makes any difference.
