Playing Doom maps in Freedoom

Is there any way to play the original Doom maps with the Freedoom assets? I don't, like, need to do it but I wanna do it for fun and I don't know how I'd go about it.

IIRC earlier releases had separate WADs with sprites and textures only, which you could load as a PWAD for Doom. But now I guess the easiest method would be to extract the maps from Doom IWAD/strip it down to maps only and load them as a PWAD with Freed∞m IWAD.

Hm, alright, thanks. I found a mod that claims to do that and I'll try that first, and then if it doesn't work I guess I'll figure out how to deal with WADs in Linux haha

I think I did at least ponder installing SLADE in Wine at some point, but back then I wasn't really that much into WAD editing.

Slade has it's own Linux port, so no need for Wine
