zx64 Posted June 23, 2021 A shame this was taken down for whatever reason. If you're curious, the original article and code did make it onto some archival sites: https://web.archive.org/web/20210614184448/https://next-hack.com/index.php/2021/06/12/lets-port-doom-to-an-ikea-tradfri-lamp/ https://web.archive.org/web/20210613173646/https://github.com/next-hack/MG21DOOM https://archive.is/JguQH 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Biodegradable Posted June 23, 2021 (edited) Awesome. That means we can once again gaze upon its wonderfully-scrappy DIY splendor. I love it. Edited June 23, 2021 by Biodegradable 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
Dark Pulse Posted June 24, 2021 I frankly don't see how this could have been "requested" to be removed by anyone. Ikea isn't gonna give a shit about your lamp once you bought it, and hacking Doom onto, well, anything is pretty much a time-honored tradition. Thankfully the article and repository got preserved at least. So now the bigger question is "Who requested the removal, and why?" 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

NoXion Posted June 24, 2021 (edited) You know, I would never have guessed that "Dude hacks a lamp to play Doom on it and then gets their work mysteriously taken down" could ever have been a thing that would happen, yet here we are. Welcome to the future. Edited June 24, 2021 by NoXion 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Diabolución Posted June 24, 2021 Allegedly, reportedly... prBoom GBA port and hack for GBA Doom 1 to use it. | Page 3 | GBAtemp.net - The Independent Video Game Community There's some news, through the rumor-mill. We can stop blaming IKEA, it wasn't them who put a halt to all this. It appears (not confirmed) that the guy works for the company that creates the microprocessors in the first place. It's likely that he was simply told by his boss "take it down" and he had no choice but to comply. Shame. But understandable. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
