leejacksonaudio Posted June 13, 2021 The subject is self-explanatory. Some may consider Taco Bell to serve the Gold Standard in tacos, while others may prefer Taco Casa, Taco Cabana, or a local eatery. Do you prefer crispy, soft, or street tacos? What fillings do you like? Have at thee! 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
⇛Marnetmar⇛ Posted June 13, 2021 hard shelled tacos > soft tacos you need some crunch to go with those fillings 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
BaileyTW Posted June 13, 2021 I like soft shell mostly in the way where I got the plate of meat and I have at the plate with a few corn tortillas (but mostly flour tortillas though at that point it's a burrito cause they're larger though my family's interchanging use of taco burrito and taquito to describe the same thing shows it doesn't really matter exactly). For fast food, still soft shell hands down, cause if the taco falls apart, I can salvage it better with a soft shell even if it does fall apart easier. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Doom_Dude Posted June 13, 2021 I agree with @Marn and the crunch with the hard shells. I buy the shells and I make my own filling with ground beef and various spices. Mix in some chopped tomato (preferably off the vine since I grow my own, but those aren't always available of course).. I spread some sour cream on there too and chopped lettuce and grated cheese. Good stuff. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
leejacksonaudio Posted June 13, 2021 We are surrounded by taco joints around here: Taco Bell, Taco Casa, Taco Cabana, Twisted Trompa, Fuzzy's Tacos, several taquerias, and so on. Taco Casa serves a pretty mean crunchy taco, but one of the local spots serves up a mean street taco plate. They serve it with a combination of meats, ranging from beef through chicken through chorizo. Good stuff. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
[McD] James Posted June 13, 2021 Lettuce, tomatoes, onions, cheese, hot sauce. About as standard as you can get. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
xX_Lol6_Xx Posted June 13, 2021 Here's how I like them: 4 tacos made with corn tortillas, meat to the shepherd with some pork rind, lots of onion and coriander, green sauce and guacamole. With a cold coca-cola or with mango juice, that makes them taste a lot better (at least for me). 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

Dark Pulse Posted June 14, 2021 (edited) Up around here, locals will swear by Mighty Taco, and going to a Taco Bell might get you looked at funny. (There's actually not too many of them around here.) Also are quite known for their somewhat surreal advertising. As for me, really all I care for is beef and cheese. No lettuce/tomato/sauce/etc. Lastly... hopefully nobody here goes to Taco Town. Unless you're REALLY hungry. Edited June 14, 2021 by Dark Pulse 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Hawk of The Crystals Posted June 14, 2021 I actually like tacos, and not what we in the states call "tacos". 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

TenenteZashu Posted June 14, 2021 I actually never had one, but they don't look half bad. The closest I've ever been to one was a few years back I bought a "do it yourself" package from Lidl and it had the most foul smells I've ever witnessed making it pretty much impossible to eat 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

xX_Lol6_Xx Posted June 15, 2021 (edited) For me, homemade tacos are the best, but whenever I can, I like going to restaurants too, mostly because of the variety and that some of them offer you some hot soup, very good when it's cold. I also remember that, when I traveled to Mexico City, I ate some delicious basket tacos outside of a museum, they were good. Edited June 15, 2021 by Lol 6 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Agent Slacker Posted June 15, 2021 I'm a simple man. I like my tacos either al pastor, de lengua, or good ol' carne asada. The nice thing about living in Omaha, Nebraska, is that there's an entire street about a mile or two wide filled with Mexican foods and shops. I haven't tried them all yet. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Chezza Posted June 15, 2021 (edited) There is a serious lack of Mexican options in Australia, or at least in Melbourne city which is often regarded as the most diverse in food range. I want my Tacos to be Tex Mex, the guilty melty cheesy meaty hard shell tacos that goes well with a triple sec margarita. The kind of stuff @[McD]Jameswould post about. However I often just find the standard versions available. We're getting a few Taco Bels here which I had once but wasn't all impressive to me. Taco Bill is crappy. Only one restaurant that's no longer around made the Tacos how I loved them. Edited June 15, 2021 by Chezza 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

All right, they are tacos that some people in Mexico sell (mostly in the center of the country, as far as I know), they are called that way because they are transported in a basket and sold on the street, instead of a restaurant. leejacksonaudio Posted June 16, 2021 @PSXDoomer My wife and I tried the local tacos de birria place tonight. I got the tacos de birria, she got tacos with chicken made the same way, both with the dipping sauce. We both loved them! We're definitely going back to the place for more, as well as to try their other offerings (they have sopes, which I've always wanted to try). Thanks again for putting me on the trail of them! 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

Agent Slacker Posted June 16, 2021 The last time I visited Mexico I remember eating at this small little taco joint where they fill a tortilla up with some carne asada or potato, they seal it up, and they throw it in a fryer. They pull it out, then they serve it drizzled in hot sauce, lettuce, and beans. Good Stuff. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Distortion Dog Posted June 16, 2021 I like my tacos. Beef, chicken, shrimp, fish, you name it. Salsa, pico de gallo. Authentic? Texmex? Does it matter? Tacos are tacos, they're very good. Unless it's got raw avocado. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
