What are the hardest maps you've ever played?

Another map that gave me a good beatdown was Slough of Despair. Yeeeesh!

Probably the last map of MAYhem 2019, Naraka. Or at least that’s the one I found most difficult at the time

I never bothered to get good at Doom, I think the end episode of Scythe is the hardest I’ve done “legit”. I don’t think I’ve ever done a 0-cheats run of Plutonia, come to think of it..

 

I’ve beaten Plutonia 2 and Memento Mori without cheats but I am certain that’s considered baby-tier these days as well.

 

I’m a casual (in terms of skill) to my core and always have been.. Monster Condo from the Doom 2 Beta kicked my ass for 30 minutes straight on a stream 6 months ago, FFS. I invested all my “git gud” energy into DM and mapping I guess, and even those are pretty shaky.

 

Uh, Yeah, I’ll lock in “I beat Scythe 1 without cheats” as my final answer. Or maybe PL2, I guess it’s a bit harder the whole way through. Single map? You kiddin? It all blurs together..!

beating plutonia 2 and the last episode of scythe is still a pretty big achievement imo - both of those are on the harder side of wads, even today.

Map 14 of Micro Slaughter Community Project. It's roughly 10,000 times harder than anything else in the set, and I ended up giving up and skipping it for my own sanity. I might go back to it one day, but when I die in a game I want my reaction to be "oh, I see what I did wrong, let me have another crack at that" and not "hoo boy, hope rng smiles on me today because I have no idea how to approach this."

 

 Note, I'm not saying that the map is bad or anything, it's just far beyond my skill level and I can't even comprehend how to approach certain encounters - at least not consistently.

I've heard...things...about how inconsistent MSCP's difficulty/gameplay is...

 

I have yet to try it for myself, but I dunno
