Doom 64 Palatte?

Eyes

Question

Doom 64 has 19 palattes, all different from each other. I got kinda confused because of the amount of palattes.

Can anyone help me with how they can be made into one big palatte with a colormap?

In general Doom 64 did not have a global palette. It ran on 32bit color mode on the N64. Each sprite could have its own custom palette, and that was used to create palette swaps sometimes to save space on the N64 cartridges. Like the Hell Knights and Barons are the same sprites just different palettes. Same goes for Imps / Nightmare Imps and Bull Demons / Spectres. So this is one case where Doom 64 did not behave like Doom 1 / 2.

Replacing Doom's Palatte with D64 palatte. I was experimenting with palattes to understand them better.

Yes, but does it need to comply in vanilla?

That's impossible to merge those colormaps into big 1 colormap. The PSX/N64 Doom engine works not like PC vanilla engine. But you can try to make your palette based on this information.

Each palette in Doom64 is already 256 colours. Even accounting for duplicates, the combined final palette would be greater than 256 colours.

While strictly and technically speaking this would still be a palette, and could hypothetically be turned into a colormap, it wouldn't be one that Doom could ever use as this data is not arbitrary in size or design.
