GZDoom just crashed when I was playing TNT

You can describe your problem in 1 post instead of making separate ones.

I just shot this Imp in the final room of the level and...

It crashed.

WHY

I don't know. Nobody can tell what the issue is by just guessing.

  1. What are your computer specs?
  2. Which build of GZDoom are you running?
  3. Are you running any mods in GZDoom on top of TNT?
  4. Which level does this occur?
  5. Did the crash produce a error message?
  6. Can you reproduce the crash by doing the exact same thing again?
  7. Can you post an log of GZDoom's? It is found in the same directory as the GZDoom executable

  • What specific Core 2 Quad would that be? I am thinking its the most popular model, the Q6600.
  • What video card are you using? Given it experienced a crash and you ran it, it should be a model dating back atleast from 2007. Run GPU-Z to find out.

3. Doom Sprite Fixing Project

  • Does the problem also occur without this mod loaded in?

6. Maybe

  • Can you test this?

  • CrashReport.zip. This should be in the same directory as where GZDoom is located.

1. In my system info, it just says Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad, and I can't find what video card I have in my system info. It might have been upgraded ever since it was unboxed since I wasn't the one who originally bought this computer, one of my family members gave it to me.

3. It has.

6. I don't know if it will crash, or not if I test it, but I'll see.

7. It isn't there.

System management should give more detailed info than that. Can you try CPU-Z and list the result here?

Use the earlier mentioned GPU-Z and list the result here.

What is the timestamp and size of TNT.wad?

I know you don't know. That's why i ask you to test it.

That means GZ itself didn't crash to the point of generating that report. What occurred? Did you get a crash back to desktop?

Try this.

Quote

Type logfile filename.txt at the console and all the console output will be saved to a text file called filename.txt. If you want to have it logging right from the start, add +logfile filename.txt to the command line.

Before any of this is really done: See if it keeps happening reliably. If it doesn't, then it was just a fluke one-off crash.

I'm just worried if getting the same results will take a long time, but now I just want to stop talking about the crash that happened like, days ago.

If you replay the scene from a save right before it, then no.

It takes less time than you think.

Then this thread was unnecessary. We are trying to help determine what caused it, because that would be the purpose why you made this thread in the first place.

Else, what was the purpose of your thread?

  • 5 months later...

Hi, I have been having a lot of problems with GZDoom. It crashes constantly on big maps or busy maps. Go2it, Central Processing, Administration Centre for example.

My computer is an i5 and we purchased it in October of 2020. I have had no crash problems on my other laptop from 2008. I don't know why this should be happening. Are there any settings you recommend tinkering with? Thanks in advance.

As a very first thing how does it crash? Do you get a crash log? If yes, save that and post a link to the saved file.

Second, what's your precise system specs? i5 can be a lot, the name has been in use for 10 years now for vastly different types of CPUs.
