Here's what's new at your friendly neighborhood Tim Horton's

Recommended Posts

First, the BBQ Pulled Pork Cravable. I was promised a sammich that would be "smothered in BBQ sauce". That's just a straight-up lie. There was barely any sauce on this at all. There are also far fewer onion crisps than what's shown in the promotional images. The onion crisps are also a lot smaller than what's pictured, and if I didn't expect them in the first place I probably wouldn't have noticed them at all. The man eating the sammich in the commercial says that it's "sooooo crispy", but again, that simply is not true. Fortunately, the pulled pork itself was pretty good and there was plenty of it. The pork was very juicy so the sammich didn't come across as dry, despite the lack of sauce. From what I could tell, the sauce had a nice tangy flavor to it, but it was hard to tell because there was so little of it.

I was promised a sammich that would make me "love lunch again". I never at any point in my life stopped loving lunch, but if I did, then this wouldn't have changed anything. This sammich is generally okay, but the people in the commercial acting like it's the greatest thing they've ever tasted are full of shit and doing a disservice to the food industry.

I also tried Tim's new Strawberry Shortcake Dream Donut.

I hate the fact that Tim Horton's keep using this heavily artificial garbage in their products and advertising it as whipped cream. It is not real whipped cream. It contains a copious amount of hydrogenated vegetable oil and has way too many artificial additives. It fucking sucks and nobody likes it. And if you do like it, then you've either become complacent with this cheap bullshit, or you haven't actually tried real whipped cream before. The Strawberry Shortcake donut didn't even taste anything like strawberries. The frosting on top of the donut didn't taste like anything at all, and the cheap aforementioned "whipped cream" in the center of the donut tastes absolutely no different than the non-colored whipped topping they use. I'm pretty sure it's exactly the same product as what they normally use, only with red food coloring. Tim Horton's ever-expanding line of Dream Donuts has been largely hit and miss and this one is a huge miss. In fact, it fucking sucked and I can't get the taste of that pathetic whipped topping out of my mouth.

tldr; Tim Horton's BBQ Pulled Pork Cravable is passable but unremarkable. Their Strawberry Shortcake Dream Donut is disgusting and I don't recommend it at all.

Tim's a big jerk.

Just being a wiseass. Never heard of this place. Sounds more like a menswear store or something.

Great review. I'm referring to the style and quality of writing. Perhaps you should do this/something similar for a living. You cannot exist on air and sex, erhh, I mean love alone. :)

I used to be a pretty big fan of Tim Hortons as a child/teenager. I have not gone there in a while, before the pandemic first hit.

I will still eat their donuts and Timbits if I am offered some, but learning about their decision to "compensate" for the $15 minimum wage by reducing their employees' break time really rubbed me the wrong way. Then I saw Thought Slime's recounting of his time as a worker there, and that basically made me vow to never ever go to a Tim Hortons again if I can help it...

People that aren't Canadians will never understand Canada's passionate history with Tim Horton's. Unfortunately, they've been gradually going downhill over the years, and that's not even getting into all the ways they've mistreated their employees. When they recently replaced the eggs on their breakfast sandwiches with eggs that are slimy, rubbery, and rancid it felt like a huge betrayal. Their new eggs are universally reviled across the nation, yet they'll continue to lie to people by pretending that people actually love them.

Wait, this is a thing, dude? They actually have new 'eggs'? I thought I was just going crazy...

I knew something was off about them recently!

Yeah, it was a major news story back in February of this year.

https://www.vancouverisawesome.com/food-and-drink/canadians-are-outraged-by-the-new-egg-patty-in-tim-hortons-breakfast-sandwiches-3362751

"The journey to building a better breakfast for Canadians by moving to freshly cracked eggs in restaurant kitchens — using 100 per cent Canadian Grade A large eggs — included a series of test markets, which were closely monitored and studied for guest satisfaction," reads the official Tim Hortons news release about its freshly cracked eggs roll-out."

Don't piss in my ear and tell me it's raining. Seeing Tim's insult all of Canada like this is heartbreaking. This is a restaurant I really want to look up to and respect, but I just don't know anymore.

Gotta echo Murdoch, Tim Horton’s sounds like a place wealthy middle aged guys buy their golfing clothes..

I agree, they look like a cross between a donut and a heavily infected organ of some kind.

This is yet another known tactic to fend of valid critique with a lie when you actually don't have any facts and/or brain to counter. Quite similar to the famous "Fake news!" reply.

And who the hell is Horton?

He's the guy who didn't hear a Who.

Tim Horton was a NHL hockey player that played for Toronto, Pittsburgh, Buffalo and New York. He co-founded the Hortons franchise and he died back in the 70's.

I haven't been to a Tim Horton's since before the pandemic. Years ago they had a better selection of donuts and their coffee was good.

It's history now but I had a Tim Horton's here where I live (about 4 hours off of the Canadian border, mind).  I seem to remember the donuts being ok quality, but nothing like the bakery that was a couple blocks away.  The Tim Horton's was here for mayyyybe a year and then it got shut down.  Why?  Franchisee decided to pull out of this market.

Now it's replaced by a Dunkin' Donuts.  Bleh.

Does anyone remember roughly 15 years ago when Tim's rolled out their "New Cookies" and acted as if they'd never had cookies on their menu before, even though they've always had cookies on their menu and the "New Cookies" were precisely the same as the previous ones, only a little smaller and a little more expensive? The more I look back on Tim's corporate practices over the years, the more I feel disrespected by just how gullible they think their clientele is.

Tim Horton's took a sharp down turn after they were bought out by.. Burger King was it? and some other Brazilian company owns them now? It's just shitty branding for shitty products at this point. I remember being able to buy a full dozen donuts for 4.95, now it's what, almost $15? Fuck Tim Horton's. Support local cafes and bakeries instead.

I had no idea Tim Horton's served "real" food. In my mind they were coffee and doughnuts, maybe some pastries. Or is that a Canada thing?

They have pretty good soups and bagels. They're also the only joint I know of that puts mushrooms in their chili, which is nice.

I really wish Tim's had more competition in Southern Ontario. Maybe then they'd stop dicking people around and being so insufferably self-congratulating all the time.

I didn't see this until just now, but here's the commercial for their new donuts. I wish they'd bring back their chocolate sour cream donut. That donut was magical.
