What color is your doomguy?

Given my name is Denim Destroyer I stick to a color scheme which resembles a respectable pair of jeans, dark blue with a nice bit of fade to show off I am not above getting dirty.

I made two custom Doomguy skins, might share them one day:

 

-Flesh-colored body with small blue and purple lines throughout and a pinkish-red helmet with a bullet hole in the middle: mushroomhead.wad

 

-An alternate version of the skin described above, except the helmet is also flesh-toned and removable: 4skin.wad

In single player I tend to not care but when it’s deathmatch I change the color of the marine’s uniform based on the level I’m playing. For example, a level with a lot of brown, I’d make the uniform brown to blend in with the environment, so the color is a situational thing. It seems to make me harder to see, which is the whole point of camouflage anyhow.

..Which unfortunately is only available in Software mode with 8-bit colors - If you use TrueColor or OpenGL, the red gets turned into this muted/faded color that lacks the "shine" that's meant to be on the armor.. In fact, this happens to most colors when using TrueColor. It's weird just how superior 8-bit color looks in Doom!

 

The difference is minor but no shininess = no fun
