Doomguy, Doom marine or Doomslayer?

Is a game, or .wad that it's a direct continuation of UAC Adventures from Doom I and II, including Final Doom? DoomGuy

It's a marine on a Doom game, but not a solid connection to DoomGuy? DoomMarine?

If I remember correctly, Doomguy is the classic Doom protagonist, Doom marine is Doom 3's, and Doomslayer is the recent game's protagonist.

Doomguy is never once used in the classic games. It's a fanmade nickname that caught on in the early years. Doom 3 you are sort of right - the player character is simply called Marine several times by various NPCs. And Doomslayer of cause is quite correct.

The only time I can remember Doomguy being used in an actual "game" is the horrible Your Path of Destruction Doom mod for Quake. It still makes me laugh to think of the hysterically cheesy phone call your character receives at the beginning of the mod from someone along the lines of "Doomguy doomguy! They've come back!" followed by said caller getting murdered.

Quake 3 simply calls him "Doom" which to my knowledge is the first official name given to the classic marine, if you don't count the novel timeline.

Side note here, but how on Earth did they ever come up with the cheesy name Flynn Taggart.. Who saw him and thought “Yeah, when I see that big burly badass fighting his way through demons, the first famous person that comes to mind is Errol Flynn!”

 

I like the idea that his name is actually Doom, Guy. Guy is a somewhat common first name after all.
