Skeletonpatch Posted October 15, 2021 (edited) Other than food, here's the interesting stuff I've bought over the past month or two: Nintendo Switch (it is not a stretch to say that this device has singlehandedly rekindled my passion for gaming. I didn't realize just how disillusioned I'd become with Sony until I'd inserted the Breath of the Wild cartridge and it just started up, no update required. The fact that the I could go into a store and buy a Switch at a reasonable price certainly helps) Ori and the Blind Forest (bought it on the eShop with the gift card that came with the Switch. I need to get the sequel at some point) The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (I've wanted to buy a Switch for five years just to play this game. Why did I make myself wait that long?) RWBY After the Fall, Before the Dawn and Roman Holiday (if you're a fan of RWBY, they're all good reads) Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (bought it to play with my roommates, but I find myself playing it on the bus quite a bit) The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (that game has been taunting me at the local pawn shop for years and I couldn't resist anymore) GameCube controller (the shitty third-party controller I had crapped out on me and I couldn't play Wind Waker without it. Also the only way I will play Smash Bros. while it's docked) Metroid Dread (finished it half an hour ago. It's good. Easily my Game of the Year. Got it day one and it came with a set of cool pins) The Twilight Zone: More Fan Favourites (saw it at the grocery store and thought that might make for a fun Hallowe'en with my roommates) Edited October 15, 2021 by Skeletonpatch 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

leejacksonaudio Posted October 15, 2021 A new 100% beeswax candle - 3" x 6" pillar, natural color. We had a 12-hour-long power outage Wednesday night into Thursday morning when a storm came through and blew out a major transformer. We burned through a couple of our emergency candles as a result. This is a slightly more classy replacement. 4 Quote Share this post Link to post
scalliano Posted October 15, 2021 Also protip: if you live in Europe, NEVER order a Dreamcast game online. Not unless you want to find bits of the jewel case lying in the bottom of the envelope. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post

deleted-account Posted October 18, 2021 (edited) Last purchase I made was a bottle of Whisk(e)y Specifically Suntory Toki Have never had Japanese whiskey before, so I decided to culture-my-palette a bit. For the price I got it for it's about average. A bit dry for my tastes straight, but on the rocks it's pretty well rounded. Edited October 18, 2021 by Robo_Cola 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

vanilla_d00m Posted October 21, 2021 (edited) I could have waited and got something else. But I noticed just recently the one who worked on making FINAL DOOM posted here and is doing demos for his youtube channel. Decided to add more fuel to the fire and get this to celebrate his return to the forums. I don't know him, but im glad I supported him. FINAL DOOM on pc was hard but I finished it (with save spamming) but for some reason I couldn't remember ANY maps like I did with ULTIMATE DOOM & DOOM 2 :( The music is good on both TNT and Plutonia (with jimmy plutonia midi wad when running Plutonia) Edited October 21, 2021 by vanilla_d00m 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
leejacksonaudio Posted October 21, 2021 (edited) A $50 gift certificate to The Salt Lick BBQ in Driftwood, TX for use in their online store. Bought it for a friend who lives in the Pacific Northwest who can't get good Central Texas sausage where they are. Now, they've got a gift certificate that'll get them 3 pounds of the stuff, plus some famous Salt Lick sauce. Nom. Edited October 21, 2021 by leejacksonaudio 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Serum Posted October 24, 2021 I just bought this Havit mechanical keyboard because I was tired of having a 60% keyboard. Using a window manager with a 60% keyboard sucked. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

Swordofdanu Posted October 24, 2021 Ghosts n' Goblins Resurrection. (Switch sale) Holy shit it's hard, took me 48 deaths to clear a stage. The artwork has really grown on me and its great seeing old enemies redesigned. Definitely a keeper. Waiting on the Dusk Switch Edition, never played before so I'm looking forward to it. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

whybmonotacrab Posted October 27, 2021 Finally got a Nintendo Switch to play Metroid Dread. My girlfriend has a Switch Lite but that mostly gets used for Pokemon and Animal Crossing so I'm never seeing that. Bought my own and now... I mostly play Animal Crossing with her. It's been great! (Metroid Dread is ok too, I guess) Want to eventually try games like Fire Emblem, and Xenoblade Chronicles 2. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Jello Posted October 29, 2021 My last big purchase was a new alternator for my vehicle. At least the overnight shipping was free, ordered it around 11:30 am Tuesday, it was delivered at 12:30 pm Wednesday... and it doesn't look like the shipping was just hidden in the overall cost. So that was nice. What wasn't nice was replacing the alternator; seems like every time a new vehicle comes out, the designers decide to see how badly they can fuck up the placement of the alternator and make it as difficult as possible to replace. The Chevy's from the 80's that I've done, easy peasy. The Oldsmobile and Buick from the 90's? Just fine. Hell, the Jeep from 2003 was one of the easiest I've ever done. Open the hood "Bam! There it is, front and center." Only good thing I can say about that Jeep. The Hyundai Santa Fe I had, that was the only time I actually took it to a shop to get the alternator changed. Because it was buried so far down in there, and all the crap you had to move around or take out, you really couldn't do it outside of a shop. Or at least I didn't want to spend all day (or more) on it. At least this vehicle, Honda Pilot, you could access the alternator, just had to move the power steering fluid reservoir and bracket, and the engine coolant reservoir. And do a shit ton of finagling to actually get it out and the new one in. The biggest issue was getting the serpentine belt back on. You'd think with that big of an engine block area they would make some room for someone to get a breaker bar in there to release pressure on the tension pully to get the damn thing back on. Well, I guess technically they did, after messing with it for almost two hours I somehow managed to get the tension released just enough to get the belt back on. Having the money to pay someone to fix your vehicle instead of doing it yourself must be nice. I should try that at some point. Still kind of pissed since I was without a vehicle for two days, failed without warning on Monday night, had to pay to get it towed, and buy the new alternator. I was really hoping to get a new TV sometime soon, since the backlights on mine failed a few weeks ago. I know you can replace them, but I've never done it before, and if they failed after only five years, what else is going to go wrong with it even if I do replace them. Alright, /end bitch fest. And I hope it was good gum Kokoro Hane. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
