And that's without spending a single second planning or testing them lol. Better yet, make it a collection of 5-minute speedmaps. 8 hours of mapping a day = 96 maps a day. Whole thing would be complete in a mere 11 days. 4 Quote Share this post Link to post
GarrettChan Posted July 14, 2021 I thought it's a project for "Ultimate Doom", yet I'm too naive... 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Jesus...I had no idea it received that many submissions! I think you might get a slightly better response if the format consisted if just 10 episodes of 10 maps for a total of 100 maps. As it is, I've got no idea how'd you get the success that RAMP has had. I think it might be a good idea to specify that all mapping formats are compatible, along with general source port compatibility (if it's ok to make special effects. I'm looking at other projects, and I'm also thinking it might be a good idea to state whether it's ok to claim a spot in the mapping order. Just to be on the safe side, I would say it would be, but that the right should be reserved to move maps around if we feel that they'd be better served somewhere else. The last 5 maps shouldn't be anything less than difficult, for instance, though I wouldn't suggest placing 5 sluaghter maps back-to-back unless we want to tire everyone out. I wouldn't mind helping out, even though I'm not really a mapper myself (I'm not exactly a visual artist of any sort) but unless a few other people would agree to help as well, I think it would start to detract from my Doom duties elsewhere. Part of the reason I've never wanted to start a community project is that it's quite difficult to articulate a purpose beyond "let's make X number of maps in a city/starport/Rowdy Rudy's style!" I don't believe you've thought through much of anything, like what kinds of maps might be accepted, such as incidental/slaughter/exploration/joke maps. Right now, this just looks like someone with bad grammar/punctuation wanting to start a community project because reasons. Just look up RAMP, Maximum Project, and PRCP2 threads for a good idea on how to format the announcement of your project. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

I have no Desire to make more attempts at hosting community projects ( none of them had Much interest, or Maybe you were referring to the OP ? ) But yes, Ramp grey... And if david had extended the deadline, he could have had closer to 300 maps Both he and I gave up mapslots so that others could get a map in after the cutoff date, so the map slots would stay at 200 after that date (no New slots was to be added after that date) There was even One that submitted 13 maps between the start and the cutout date I submitted 12 maps (most were maps that were already made long Ago) but gave up a mapslot and ended on 11 maps in RAMP Edited July 15, 2021 by CBM 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
