Jupiter Hell (Successor to DoomRL) Full Release August 5th

Recommended Posts

Cool! I am not familiar with DoomRL or roguelikes in general, but I do like the "Die Hard meets Doom 3" vibe of the trailer!

For a moment there I thought this was a new version/sequel to the Doom RPG mod (often used in conjunction with RL Arsenal). I remember sinking a few hours into that about 10 years ago or something.

Looks interesting, I have a few roguelikes in my steam library and I'm a fan of isometric games so I might check this out at some point. I'll probably wait for full release though, my steam backlog is almost as large as my Doom maps backlog folder.

DoomRL was my gateway to roguelikes, long before I even played Doom. I remember hearing about Jupiter Hell, but had no idea it was still in development after all this time. Looks promising though - retains more of the DoomRL characteristics than I expected, and the animations are slick enough that you could confuse it for a real-time twin stick shooter.

About time. It felt like this project disappeared into the ether for a while or at least I hadn't kept up with it at all since it was announced. Glad it's coming out in full soon.

Holy shit, just discovered this. Truly is turn based Doom, loving this so far. It nails the 90s game aesthetic perfectly too, they even got a Bruce Campbell sound-alike for voice over. Checked the player data and medals list and there's loads to unlock and do, going to be playing this a lot. Can't recommend this enough if you like turn based games and Doom.
