How to create an iwad that is recognized by LZ / GZ?

Hello friends, here again with my noob questions! Since yesterday I started my search to create my own IWAD, I think I have been successful, but there is something that I have not found an answer yet, how the hell do I make my IWAD recognized by LZ / GZ?, it only recognizes the classic IWADs (doom, doom2 , hexen, chex, strife) how do I get my IWAD with its own name to be recognized by the engine? I would appreciate your answers! regards!

put it into gzdoom/lzdoom directory, and rename it to [name].iwad or [name].ipk3

also a custom iwad for gzdoom has to have an IWADINFO lump, with the information about the iwad:

also there is a standalone iwad base i found on itchio:

that cyberdemon picture is really really cool.

Did you create everything needed by an IWAD yourself?

 

If not then realm666 has you covered with everything sprite based and stuff like OTEX has you covered when it comes to textures.

I am doing an IWAD project myself, kind of, I am making GZFreeDOOM (a version of FreeDOOM for GZDOOM) and I am considering using stuff from places like realm666 to replace some of the worst freedoom sprites

Of course. But it will take atleast a year from now if not longer before I can call it done :)

I would also love to have your IWAD in my collection when it is done :D
