DoomSlayer69 Posted July 18, 2021 Hi guys, I am interested in creating a standalone game with the Doom engine. I've seen people using the GZDoom engine to create their own custom standalone game, how can I do something similar? If you couldn't tell, I am not too familiar with the technical side of the Doom Engine, I only have experience making games with the Unity engine. If you guys know what I should do, please let me know, thanks! 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
URROVA Posted July 18, 2021 (edited) for making a standalone game with gzdoom, you have to make an iwad for it. that is, making a normal wad/zip file on the same folder as gzdoom and renaming it as .iwad or .ipk3. also a GZDoom custom iwad needs an IWADINFO lump, there is more info: https://zdoom.org/wiki/IWADINFO also there is two bases for starting a gzdoom game (put these on gzdoom's folder and start adding thigs from there, add new textures/maps or new things throught decorate or zscript like making a normal doom mod, but without the doom resources): https://calcium-chan.itch.io/gzdoom-standalone-iwad https://forum.zdoom.org/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=70232 Edited July 18, 2021 by URROVA 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
