Moustachio Posted December 24, 2022 Lately, I’ve been cranking it to the max. I have an ultra-wide monitor so I’m actually at 3840x1080 resolution with modern-type source ports like DSDA or GZDoom. On DOSBox & Choco/crispy doom I also use a nice CRT filter (lottesCRT via reshade). For me, it feels a hell of a lot more “real” at that resolution with an appropriate CRT filter. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

You could try Woof, it's kinda like Crispy but with support for those complevels. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post

It's a cool source port though, and it's steadily getting better. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

Steve D Posted December 26, 2022 Since my last post in July 2021 I've bought a 4K monitor, so now it's 3840x2160 fullscreen. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
ducon Posted December 26, 2022 Yay, each pixel in Doom will size one inch. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Berubaretto Posted December 26, 2022 Mainly 320*200 or 640*480. Sometimes 800*600. IMO 4:3 is always a better choice when playing old FPSes or modern boomer-shooters. But for other modern games I don't mind 16:9 resolution. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
volleyvalley Posted December 26, 2022 320x200 on a 1920x1080 screen. I love the chunky look. 7 Quote Share this post Link to post
SilentD00mer Posted December 26, 2022 800x600 or 320x200(depending on the port) on a 1366x768 monitor, with 4:3 aspect. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

s4f3s3x Posted December 26, 2022 I've been corrupted by BeefGee and can now only play 640x400 stretched 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
rzh Posted December 26, 2022 320x200 (actually 240), 4:3 aspect ratio, with integer scaling. Sometimes 640x400 (480) still in 4:3 but without integer scaling since it can't scale on my 1366x768 laptop. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

Technicolor Posted January 11, 2023 1366X768 Pixels in GZDoom. That's the screen resolution of PC. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Azafran Posted January 14, 2023 If I play on Dosbox or 86box obviously I play on 320x200, 4:3 aspect ratio and 35fps. But mainly, for vanilla stuff I play using Crispy Doom 640x400 or whatever the equivalent is for 16:10 aspect ratio (1920x1200 native in my monitor). I found that the best compromise between a more nostalgic feel and screen readability. Also I run it with uncapped framerate. For more advanced mods I use Gzdoom with opengl renderer and my native desktop resolution (1920x1200). 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Pixel Fiend Posted January 15, 2023 I may be in the minority here but it just seems like total heresy to play doom in high resolution (higher than 320x200) 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
