A few different textures and it takes on a completely different feel altogether. Also, the upside down crucifix was a little bit too cheesy. ;)

 

I'm still not 100% happy with the contrast but I'm planning to work on lighting a bit more and hopefully that should help. The rest of the level is coming along well, but nowhere near screenshot-worthy yet.

Good stuff, the yellow is a good combo with the brown wood.

I should have my map done by today (AEST), I'm doing a remix of every doom 1 cyberdemon encounter. Some of them are not as obvious as others.

Currently boom-compatible, will convert it to UDMF and add some UDMF stuff once I'm done.

After playing a bit of this map I have to say that you have some really cool arenas here but the fun factor is hampered by the fact that the ssg is the only weapon the player gets. Even with the cybers helping you kill stuff it's gonna take forever to kill 1000 enemies.

 

Also just a quick tip you have a lot of torches on your map but no lit sectors around them so they just look flat. You can draw some semi-circular sectors around them and increase their brightness. It only takes a couple of minutes and really helps the lighting of your map pop.

It will look weird doing circles around torches, I'm sort of relying on the player to have lights turned on for them. I'll see what I can do.

Also, I wouldn't recommend killing every enemy, I may add a kill switch or something, but it should be easy enough to kill the cyberdemons. I may add a rocket launcher, but I have no idea how to introduce it. I may put it just before the switch, or down the hall way, but it's going to look weird no matter how I do it.

Oh yeah GZDoom has lights duh yeah it looks fine now :) Also again cool map the room where you gotta climb up the hill was so good.

just tried it though and despite dynamic lights being active, I didn't have any illumination in the starting area.

 

I was using GZDoom v.4.6.0

Blocked out the main geography of MAP 21: NORDIC ISLAND... There's gonna be more architecture, and hopefully a bit more contrast.

 

Also, OTEX is giving me analysis paralysis... So I just took all snow/ice textures (calling it... SNOW_TEX :) ) and use those alongside the standard Doom II set.

I didn't find the feature in GZD v.4.6, but I turned up the gamma and it helped

 

I really like the idea behind having the maze area and that this area works as a hub to go to each cyberdemon encounter, but I can't figure out how to complete the map

Find the dead imp. It's next to the closed off teleporter, and a dead Imp will always lead to the exit.

Figured I'll post the current WAD here, even if it's far from done. I'll have to do a lot of tweaking on the colors...

 

Currently has one secret, the BFG is part of later secret and for now is unobtainable. Has some co-op differences. This level isn't currently completable. And it's only three rooms...
