DevilMyEyes Posted July 27, 2021 (edited) I've got tons of 'em but what I can think of right now are Vulgar Display of Power from Pantera, Facelift from Alice in Chains, Bloodbath from Suicidal angels, South of Heaven from Slayer and Revenant from Inferi...What about you? Naarok0fkor Posted July 27, 2021 Too many albums from the 70's. With LP's there was enough room for artwork. With the CD era, trying to get the pamphlet out of the case was too annoying... There's a few jazz album cover I enjoyed too... 3 Quote Share this post Link to post

TheMagicMushroomMan Posted July 27, 2021 (edited) The mistake you made when creating this thread was asking "what is your favorite album cover art" instead of "what is objectively the best album cover art". When discussing art, verything should be measured objectively. Here are some album covers that are objectively the best: I love this one the most, an incredibly heartfelt painting of a small elephant standing on two legs and crying at the beach. How many rocket launcher blasts do you think it would take to gib him? Edited July 27, 2021 by TheMagicMushroomMan 4 Quote Share this post Link to post
smeghammer Posted July 27, 2021 Well, I could go for many Iron Maiden covers, so... Not an album, but I love it: I painted this on my denim cutoff many many many years ago. I have to agree with 'Don't Break the Oath' as well. Erm... I like Rodney Matthews a bit: Nazareth: Magnum: Diamond Head: As covered by Metallica, of course. And also - Dio: And OBVIOUSLY: 4 Quote Share this post Link to post

Jello Posted July 28, 2021 (edited) Quite a few that I like, and there's a few that I was going to post. Really anything by Slayer is great, and I do really love South of Heaven, and I've been using it as the background on my phone for years. But I did love Against All Authority's covers on their albums "All Fall Down" and "24 Hour Roadside Resistance". The latter of which I do have on vinyl. I always appreciated the inked covers more than the painted covers, because that's how I like to draw. And 24 Hours Roadside Resistance, which I ended up just taking a picture of my LP because apparently people have forgotten about the band and I can't find any decent pictures on the internet. I really can't believe I was able to wear a black hoodie in highschool with Against All Authority on the front, and a white silhouette of a man sitting in a wooden chair holding an AK on the back. I'm sure times have changed in the last 20 years. I can't even find a picture of the AK guy on the internet at this point, and that's sad. However I do like Nomeansnono's "Wrong" cover. And Neutral Milk Hotel's: In the Aeroplane Over the Sea. And Tom Waits "Mule Variations" particularly the back cover. I'm just glad I could find a picture of it online so I didn't have to get out my vinyl and take a picture of it. Yeah, they aren't all exactly edgy, I just like how they go along with the music thematically. There's some very impressive artwork put into album covers, and especially the work put into metal albums in the 70's and 80's. But these are some of my favorites. I have more, but it's time for bed. DynamiteKaitorn Posted July 28, 2021 Always found Demon Days' four boxes to be iconic. Love the bubbly theme for Day & Age 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
lazygecko Posted July 28, 2021 The Tarkus cover is so funny because it looks like a textbook arcade/shmup video game boss, and ELP was already a very common source of influence for boss/battle music especially in games which makes the album even more prescient. The interior artwork has even more stuff in it 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
Chainie Posted July 28, 2021 (edited) Aerosmith - Toys in the Attic. I didn't even heard this album, just saw this cover art in 2010. I can't describe feelings i have when i see this cover. Edited July 28, 2021 by Chainie 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
