VoanHead Posted August 13, 2021 (edited) Fuck me this is gonna be hard to assign points too, wouldn't it have been better to give more than 9 points since I'm well rounded with like 5 sourceports? Crispy-3 (Very lightweight sourceport with vanilla/limit-removing being the only thing in mind, which works wonders on my potato laptop) LZ/GZDOOM-3 (I don't necessarily know how to assign points to these, so I say better to combine em as one? I use LZ on my potato laptop and GZ respectively on my more beefier computer that I recently paid and received. Anyhoo, this sp is solely for mods) Woof!-3 (mbf21 has better implementation on this than UMAPINFO) Edited August 13, 2021 by VoanHead 0 Share this post Link to post

Devalaous Posted August 14, 2021 GZDoom - 7. Would be a straight 9 but.. Official Unity port - 1. I use it now and then, as I enjoy it and because DMAPINFO lump testing requires it Crispy - 1. It's a really neat port with all the QoL a modern day port should have. However GZDoom still does everything I like better. 0 Share this post Link to post
Gibbon Posted August 14, 2021 (edited) GZDoom - 4 Older classic source ports - 4 Unity Port - 1 Edited August 14, 2021 by Gibbon 0 Share this post Link to post
snapshot Posted August 14, 2021 (edited) Zandronum - 4 ZDaemon - 3 GZDoom - 2 Zandronum and ZDaemon are the ones I use the most for survival/co-op/dm sessions, Zandronum runs all I need without problems for both SP and MP most of the time, if a mod doesn't work there I switch to GZDoom, occasionally. Skeletonpatch Posted August 15, 2021 GZDoom 1-5-03: 6 Any newer version of GZDoom: 2 PrBoom+: 1 You read that right, unless a mod requires a newer version I will only use version 1-5-03 of GZDoom. Why? That was the first version I downloaded and I've been copy/pasting the same folder across all my computers ever since. I've only used PrBoom+ when it was required to adequately test for a community project. Though, since it doesn't look like you're actually tallying them to include different port versions I'll give you something that's actually useful: GZDoom: 6 ZDoom: 2 Doom 95: 1 I include '95 because that was the first port I played as a kid and I feel the amount of time I spent in it, while over ten years ago, is substantial enough that I shouldn't exclude it. 0 Share this post Link to post
Smoothandz Posted August 16, 2021 I have 2 Doom "moods." 1 - I wanna play Doom like I did back in the day. So fresh and so clean. 2 - Is this even Doom anymore? Why do I have so many mods? Which component of my PC is on fire? Most of the time I'm playing with mods, but nothing beats the classic formula from time to time. GZDoom - 7 Crispy Doom - 2 0 Share this post Link to post
Paf Posted August 16, 2021 (edited) Choccy Render Limits: 3, only use when I want to see how close/limit removing a map is. Crispy Doom: 4, I use this for limit removing maps. DSDA-Doom: 2, Only used for Boom/MBF/Whatever format maps, especially because it runs slow on my system. head_cannon Posted August 17, 2021 Crispy Doom - 7 PrBoom+ - 2 The majority of my Doom diet is Vanilla or Limit-Removing stuff played in Crispy Doom. I do play the occasional Boom mapset, but I mostly use PrBoom+ for recording & playing demos. 0 Share this post Link to post
LuciferSam86 Posted August 17, 2021 GZDoom - 7 PrBoom+ - 2 I use mainly GZDoom because I play doom mainly with mods . PRBoom if I want to go without mods. 0 Share this post Link to post

Huge Guts Posted August 19, 2021 (edited) - Crispy Doom: 6 As a big purist, I look for source ports that focus on accurately reproducing behaviors seen in vanilla gameplay. Crispy Doom does that while removing static limits and giving me the option to increase my resolution. Crispy just stuck with me as THE source port for me. If I'm feeling even more purist, I'll use DOSBox. - GZDoom: 2 I sometimes play with GZDoom to play around with WADs or mods that only work with ZDoom-based ports, and if I'm not feeling vanilla at the moment. - PrBoom+: 1 I really only use this for Boom/MBF maps. Zirtonic Posted August 19, 2021 PrBoom+: 9 I need to not be lazy and switch to DSDA but I haven't yet. I wish I was more open to switching ports when it's convenient (or required in the case of GZ) but I launch through Steam and don't feel like renaming .EXEs every time I want to play a level or two. 2 Share this post Link to post
MFG38 Posted August 19, 2021 GZDoom: 8 PrBoom+: 1 Which source ports I use and how much does vary depending on what sort of project I'm working on. But GZDoom is my main port for virtually all of my Doom playing. The others (PrBoom+, Crispy Doom etc.) are used solely for testing purposes (or to record the very occasional demo). 0 Share this post Link to post
Phobus Posted August 20, 2021 GZDoom: 7 prboom+ (various versions): 1 chocorenderlimits: 1 If we were allowed more ports, I'd mention Crispy Doom, ZDoom, Zandronum (all for compatibility testing) and the Unity Port (mostly on XBox One), although I'd need a better way of weighting it back in favour of GZDoom as it gets such a high percentage of usage. It's more like 8.9 to 0.06 to 0.04 up there, really, as anything that isn't GZDoom is normally a testing port. 0 Share this post Link to post
Major Arlene Posted August 24, 2021 GZDoom- 5 (most of my stuff/stuff I like to play is GZDoom UDMF, find it the easiest to use) Zandronum- 2 (play MP each weekend and have mapped for it a couple times) Boom/derivatives- 1 (mapping, comp. check testing) Chocorenderlimits- 1 (map vanilla once a year) 0 Share this post Link to post
