I made a similar post already on The Zdoom forums in the Off Topic section. I felt like I should make a thread here too in order to reach more members of the Doom community. Please bear with me as I hardly ever make any posts anywhere online so I may not be up to date on forum/posting etiquette.

 

Long story short, I have been wanting to express my gratitude to everybody here in the Doom community. Every single time I boot up a WAD, read anything on the DoomWiki webpage or forums like

this one, I get this overwhelming urge to scream, “THANK YOU” ! I mean everybody from map makers to play testers, from website mods, to other players and mod makers, thank you. I am very happy that even now at 30 years old I can catch up on everything I missed in the old school Doom world having grown up as a console gamer. 
 

I realize the work some of you creators do is almost like a full-time job, or maybe you juggle your life around doom mapping and modding. However you do it I am sure I’m correct when I say we, the average Doom player, greatly appreciate the work you artists put into your craft. It brings us great joy to have something new to play around with. I genuinely don’t have the words to describe how happy this community makes me. 
 

If you are just an average doom player I appreciate you as well because you spread the joy of Doom online for people like me to learn what’s hot and what mods, like Nash’a Gore Mod for example, are great to play Doom with along with where to find lists of all the great levels and wads out there in the world. I did not spend a ton of time thinking about formatting or anything like that I just want to get my appreciation out there in the world incase there are some that are feeling burnt out or need some motivation to continue spreading the joy of Doom.

 

I wish there was a proper way in writing to express my gratitude but I’m having trouble finding words to convey my appreciation. So hopefully this little thank you post will suffice. Thank you EVERYONE, if you have a hand in the Doom community in anyway, you’re my rock star. This community is the best.

 

P.S. Watch Mtpain27 Dean of Doom as he is what inspired me to get back into Doom since I just built a PC after having been a console gamer the majority of my life. I was banned from the family computer for memorizing the DOS prompts to play Wolfenstein 3D so I didn’t have a choice until now.
