GzDoom WADS not saving/working?

Hey all! Really new here so please forgive me if this is in the wrong area of the forum.

 

I've just started fiddling around with SLADE and GZDoom to 'reimagine' knee deep in the dead with doom 2 assets included... I'm sure it's been done a million times but I'm having a lot of fun with it and seems like a cool way to get into the scene!

 

Anyway the issue I'm having is that I can play my edited maps if I launch them from within SLADE however if I save the map to a new wad like E1M1_D2.wad and try launch that through GZdoom independently I just get regular hanger or underhalls depending on what IWAD I choose.

 

I'm sure it's a simple issue that I'm just not understanding so any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

tl;dr how do you save an edited id software created map using doom 2 assets and launch it in GZdoom

Your map is probably in the MAP01 slot while when loading it in Doom 1, you get access to the E1M1 slot.

 

I'd suggest looking into getting the Doom Complete IWAD from WadSmoosh because this way you don't need to use the console to try either E1M1 (episode Knee-Deep in the Dead) or MAP01 (episode Hell on Earth).
