Reinhard Posted August 21, 2021 Not too long ago after on and off playing I finished Eternal DOOM and was curious of the general viewpoint (besides the reviews from the actual download link). I personally found the wad enjoyable with the off bullshit moment/ map. What are your lad's thoughts of the wad as a whole? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Devalaous Posted August 21, 2021 Neat as hell, but also incredibly draining and daunting. Every single time I try and work on it, I get tired very very quickly. Even I have my thresholds of 'big exploratory maps' 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
NuMetalManiak Posted August 21, 2021 I have memorized the layouts of each level and I still love it to this day. 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
Michael Jensen Posted August 22, 2021 Not only does it hold up really well, it's still one of the best wads ever made. Most of the maps look fantastic, the atmosphere is great, music is some of the best custom midis ever and there are many fun gimmicks, often using engine tricks. Some of the most creative maps ever made are in ED, especially Jim Flynn's genius creations. And the idea that it's all cryptic/puzzle/switch hunt is a bullshit stereotype which applies to maximum 3 maps. All you need to do to find your way most of the time, is to pay attention to your surroundings. One of the main goals of ED is to be an immersive world, which may not go together with the modern "SR40 through half the map in 2 minutes while spamming the BFG" attitude. The progression tends to get a bit more involved, yes, but ED teaches you it's tricks in the early levels in an intuitive way. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
Blackroat Posted August 22, 2021 I didn't go further than Doom 3. Doom will always stay as classic Doom for me. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

Sorry :D I thought this thread was opened in Classic Doom Section by mistake :D Edited August 22, 2021 by Blackroat 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Murdoch Posted August 23, 2021 Loved it back in the day. The time travel idea was neat. Will possibly revisit it when the new music pack gets released. Definitely some daunting maps though, and I understand why some people do not like it. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
