PsychEyeball Posted August 30, 2021 I wanna do something stupid soonish and subject myself to these really bad WAD compilations from long ago like D!Zone and Maximum Doom, but one thing which kinda stops me is how you have to quit the game in order to relaunch the game in order to select a new WAD to launch. Is there a way to mitigate this and choose new WADs to load without relaunching Doom or a Doom source port? Typically I use GZDoom to play, but I'm always open to other source ports if they allow you to quick swap WADs without hassle. 4 Quote Share this post Link to post

Wavy Posted August 30, 2021 (edited) You can do this in GZDoom. Open the console and type: [restart -file mod.wad] Without the brackets There may be an easier way in GZDoom but this works for me. Edited August 30, 2021 by Wavy 2 Quote Share this post Link to post

PsychEyeball Posted August 30, 2021 Eternity Engine looks like it's exactly what I need. Thank you! 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
LexiMax Posted August 31, 2021 (edited) Odamex also has this feature, through the wad console command (as in wad doom2.wad valiant.wad), and I can attest that it's quite convenient. You can configure extra locations for this command to look through (either via config or through DOOMWADDIR), it will automatically add an IWAD to the front of the stack if you don't specify one, and you don't even need to use a .WAD suffix when you type in the command - so the above example could be shortened to wad valiant, which is about as short as you can get. Doomkid Posted August 31, 2021 Odamex was the first one to come to mind. Can’t believe the other C/S ports still don’t have multi-wad rotation after all these years! 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
