RevenantFTS97 Posted September 1, 2021 Today I tested myself to see how fast can I beat the famous and iconic Episode 1 of Doom 1. I did it two times, in UV with fast monsters (without going UV-Max, just trying to be fast) and in both cases my time was just below 20 minutes Here is my video: Its duration is 18:58 (the last 43 seconds correspond to the ending message screen) And what about you? How fast can you beat Episode 1? (Single segment, without dying and without use of loading and saving) 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

Teo Slayer Posted September 1, 2021 In 10 minutes on Hurt Me Plenty. There are secrets that can be used to beat each map faster ;) 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Sergeant G Posted September 1, 2021 Generally speaking more than half an hour but less than a whole hour on UV. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
head_cannon Posted September 2, 2021 In a little under 20 minutes on Ultra-Violence. On tonight's run, I got a time of 17:33. e1_hc.zip 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
Pseudonaut Posted September 2, 2021 Maybe I should learn the UV-Speed route so I can get a decent time on this. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post

BaileyTW Posted September 2, 2021 I was going to grind out episode 1 runs a couple months ago back in april but then I decided against it cause I was a little burnt out. Do remember some of the route I planned, for the first couple of maps at least. After a couple of goes at it, first run that completed I got a 9:47 on ultra-violence, which is not that bad for me stumbling about at times wasting my time on pinkies. Still, extremely surprised at this time, because I struggled to even complete a run while going fast back then enough that I did not complete a single one and definitely not on nearly as good a pace as this. Gotten pretty good in the past few months, that or I sucked back then I dunno. Here's the demo (sorry for not letting it stay on e1m8's intermission screen for long, forgot that pressing space immediately sends you to the text screen): Bailey_Episode1_First_Run.zip Would post a video but I got no way of doing that really. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

In UV without fast monsters, it gets easier, because you can skip some secrets, and as a consequence, save precious time. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Incredible And yeah, there's no doubt you have improved your skills 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

Needed eight attempts this time. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

MFG38 Posted September 3, 2021 According to this demo I just recorded, about 20 minutes on UV without going for 100% kills or secrets. E1M9 also excluded. doom_e1_episode.zip 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
Gangstalker Posted September 6, 2021 I haven't tried to speedrun episode 1 in a while, but to give a rough estimate I could prolly do it in around 15-20 minutes, assuming I'm not going for 100% secrets and stuff. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Denim Destroyer Posted September 6, 2021 The last time I timed myself it was around 14-16 minutes on UV. I could probably get it down much lower but I don't enjoy doing that sort of thing. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
